Dartmouth is located in the well-liked and attractive South Hams region of South Devon, along the banks of the lovely River Dart estuary. Dartmouth is one of the most well-liked tourist sites in Devon because of its location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and proximity to the shore. It boasts a beautiful waterfront, historic, winding alleys lined with quaint shops, eateries, and art galleries, as well as a variety of regional events like the yearly Dart Music Festival, the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, and the October Dartmouth Food Festival. The Dart Valley Trail, the South West Coast Path, and several peaceful rural lanes are just a few of the intriguing cycling and walking paths that can be found in and around Dartmouth. Both a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the lovely countryside to Paignton and a boat ride to Kingswear and on to the charming harbour town of Brixham are essential. The South Hams region offers a variety of beach activities, including the Blue Flag Award-winning Blackpool Sands and the incredibly popular Slapton Sands, both of which are close to Dartmouth. A tranquil setting in South Devon.

All in all, we had a lovely week and enjoyed Dartmouth as our home base. We booked this property last-minute and got a pretty good deal, but I would be hesitant to pay full-price. Based on other Sykes Cottages we have stayed at, this one is acceptable at £800-900 but seems over-priced for what it is at the full summer list price of nearly £1400 for the week. One big thing to be aware of with this property though... As the listing mentions, the property overlooks the M&S carpark. What the listing fails to mention is that M&S takes their deliveries at 7am every morning! Assuming one sleeps with the windows open as we did in the summer, it is impossible to sleep while the extremely loud deliveries are taking place for over an hour. Also be aware that the property comes with only a cleaning starter pack (which seems to be typical these days for properties owned by a company instead of individuals) that will not last you the entire week.

It was well equipped with spacious bedrooms and comfy beds. There were lots of great places to eat close by and so much to see and do. A great base - thank you. We had a lovely week.
