Guests say

Guests generally appreciate the holiday rental's comfortable furnishings, ideal location with lovely views, and the convenience of parking. The property is well-equipped and offers a peaceful stay, with some guests returning multiple times. While there are mentions of maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns, the positive experiences with the property's amenities and the surrounding area of Dartmouth seem to outweigh the negatives.

Most guests found the property to be clean and well-presented, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, there were some concerns about specific areas needing more attention, such as under beds and the oven. These issues suggest room for improvement in the cleaning routine.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to Dartmouth, and ease of access to local attractions. The peaceful setting and availability of parking are frequently mentioned as significant advantages. The scenic walks and nearby restaurants enhance the appeal of the location.

Guests find the apartment comfortable, with special mentions of the soft beds and warm atmosphere. Some guests noted the furniture, particularly the leather sofas, could be slippery, and there were minor concerns about space in the smaller bedroom. Overall, the comfort level is deemed high.

The property is well-equipped, with guests appreciating the modern amenities. However, there are reports of maintenance issues such as a problematic bath plug, loose toilet seats, and draughty windows. These issues indicate that while the facilities are generally good, there is a need for better upkeep.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack and a bottle of wine, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are consistent or guaranteed. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately assess the thoughtfulness of the host in providing gifts.

About this property

Set in historic Warfleet overlooking the Creek, this famous Grade II listed building has been a paper mill, a bakery, an outstanding brewery and, most recently, the Dartmouth Pottery. Picturesque Dartmouth is only a 10-15 minute walk from the Pottery, with stunning views of the River Dart along the way, and, in the other direction, you're only a short distance from the Dartmouth Castle and tearooms.

This luxury ground floor apartment is accessed from the building’s communal area. This leads into the hallway of the apartment with access to all rooms, with three steps down to a spacious open plan living, dining and kitchen area. This light and airy area boasts oak flooring and original stone features, plus large picture windows with views across to Warfleet Creek. The living area is furnished with two large leather sofas, whilst the dining area has a contemporary wooden dining table and five leather dining chairs. The modern, well equipped kitchen area has beautiful granite work surfaces, and there is an additional utility cupboard housing a washing machine and iron.

The luxurious master bedroom has a King-size bed and en suite shower room, whilst the second bedroom has a double bed. All duvets, pillows, bed linen and hand/bath towels are provided. In addition to the en suite is a luxurious family bathroom.

Adjacent to the property is a small communal seating area, or take a short walk down to picturesque Warfleet where you can enjoy ample benches with waterside views, a small beach and rock pools at low tide.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

There was 3 of us .Mrs Henney has a severe sight problem and found it difficult to manage the set of steps between the two levels . We had to put a chair at beginning of 1st step and and another at bottom of last step as there was no bannister at either side to hold on to. Mrs Ballantyne had to try numerous times to speak to someone re BOOKED FOR 2 WEEKS I 1 set of towels in each bedroom for 2WEEKS. NO NOTICE OF CHANGING BED LINEN OR CLEANING. The small brown boxes o milk etc was a total JOKE. THE WASHING MACINE STUFFED IN A SMALL OVERLOADED CUPBOARD.HA HA RE TRYING TO DRY WASHING!!!! Shower in bedroom with bath not sufficient. We all had to use the shower cubicle.in other bedroom. Sitting room and dining area tired especially settees. Room totally cluttered with books ornament etc First bedroom had no spaces totally full of CUSHIONS AND CHAIR AT DRESSING TABLE COULD NOT SIT AT. ALL CUPBOARDS TOO HIGH COULD NOT REACH. BATHROOM LIGHT AND DOOR OPENS RIGHT AT WHERE THE TOP OF THE BED IS,,!! NO ROOM could not sit on bed slid off. ALL CUPBOARDS IN BOTH BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS COULD NOT BE REACHED. I AM 5 foot 2 inches and that was the bottom of all theses cupboards. Useless. Seating area outside HA HA HA TV too small and needed updating. OVERALL OVERPRICED AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Just a couple of issues, 1 The shower in the en-suite needs attention, I did not expect to have black damp on the ceiling in such a good quality apartment, such a small thing that could be easily remedied! 2. The Freezer badly needs defrosting and the cooker needs cleaning, again easily remedied. My daughter and I feel that Sykes should have made us aware of the road collapse between Dartmouth and Warfleet. I know Dartmouth well and assumed we could use that direct route to and from The Pottery, rather than a 4 mile detour!

This didn’t detract from the stay in any shape or form and possibly enhanced the stay with a reduction of traffic. The walk in to Dartmouth was easy and it was great to come back to a well equipped comfortable flat and watch the boats coming in and out of the harbour.
