Guests consistently praise The Clock House for its tranquil and stunning gardens, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation, and welcoming hosts. The property's direct access to Dartmoor and its proximity to beaches make it an ideal location for both relaxation and exploration. The thoughtful touches, such as the provision of essentials and the occasional mention of welcome gifts, contribute to a highly enjoyable stay.
Reviewers frequently mention the cleanliness of the property, describing it as 'very clean and comfortable' with no negative comments on this aspect, indicating a high level of satisfaction.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, beautiful gardens, and easy access to Dartmoor and local beaches. The property's setting is consistently described as stunning and ideal for exploring the South Hams area.
Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests highlighting 'good beds', 'comfy and relaxed' atmosphere, and 'lovely wood burner'. The presence of a downstairs bedroom with an en-suite wet room is particularly appreciated for those with mobility issues.
Facilities are well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen, plenty of crockery and cutlery, and a cosy log fire. However, one comment about the TV's sound quality suggests a slight deduction from a perfect score.
Guests feel well looked after with mentions of soap at every sink, dishwasher tablets, and welcome cakes. While these gifts enhance the experience, it is politely noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed.
Beside one other cottage and disused barns 200 yards from the Victorian house at Lukesland, with its lovely 24 acre garden, is this cottage 1½ miles on the Dartmoor side of Ivybridge. Light and roomy with the stunning surroundings, this is wonderfully peaceful accommodation for relaxing and recharging your energy levels. Head through the stable doors into the hall and from here you will find the cosy sitting room with lofty ceiling and traditional wood burning stove and the efficient kitchen with space for family meals. French windows lead out to your terrace from both these rooms. For anyone who doesn't want to climb the stairs to bed, there is a handy downstairs en suite bedroom, with the other two bedrooms peacefully upstairs. Above the sitting room is a gallery with an optional sofa bed, comfy seating and the gently ticking clock workings after which the cottage is named. Your little terrace is a fine place for a barbecue, or go beyond to explore the woods, lawns and pretty glades around a central stream. For walkers, this is a perfect spot with direct access to the open moorland of Dartmoor and the Two Moors Way footpath which starts in Ivybridge, and the River Erme valley is also very beautiful. City fans will love Plymouth, a vibrant and buzzing place with theatre, cinemas and shops aplenty. For bucket and spade seaside fun, beaches don't come much more lovely than Mothecombe, which has starred in several movies. The Clock House is set in a unique and beautiful garden, yet with all the delights of Dartmoor and the South Hams beyond.
Often referred to as the Gateway to South Dartmoor', Ivybridge is set in one of the most beautiful areas of Devon and provides the perfect base from which to explore the county's glorious coast and countryside.

Central to lots of walks and places of interest. Beautiful gardens on your doorstep where you find something different to see everyday and we did walk the gardens everyday using different routes. A homely property with an extremely cosy fire on a wet, windy and miserable day, that didnât impact a lovely week for us.

The gardens are stunning and we felt very privileged to have them to ourselves. We were made to feel very welcome by Penny the housekeeper. I suggest that you consider having some properties with a Sunday changeover as the traffic on the M5 on Fridays is awful.

Hard to take in that, included in the stay, was access to one of the most beautiful gardens in England. A perfect place to stay! Everything was amazing!
