Bumblebee Cottage is praised for its excellent location in Salcombe, cosy atmosphere, and suitability for both families and couples. Guests appreciate the well-equipped nature of the property and its proximity to amenities. The garden is a highlight in the summer. Some concerns are raised regarding parking and the need for updates in decor and facilities.
The cottage generally appears to be clean, with some guests finding it comfy and warm. However, a few guests noted stains on carpets, rugs, and curtains, suggesting a need for a more thorough cleaning.
The location is highly praised for being central, close to the harbour, shops, and amenities. Despite parking challenges, the convenience of the location is consistently appreciated by guests.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the cottage cosy, with a warm garden to enjoy. Some minor issues with light from the windows and squeaky beds on the top floor were mentioned.
The cottage is well-equipped for guests' needs, but some guests feel that updates are necessary, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms. The lack of parking and the need for better Wi-Fi are noted.

Set in a relatively quiet, mainly residential area of Salcombe yet within a very short distance of the town's boutiques, restaurants and famous waterfront, Bumblebee Cottage is a delightful 19th Century stone property, in a short terrace of similar cottages. Batson Creek is just a few minutes’ walk away for quick access to the slipway and car park. The property has a sneaky peek of Batson Creek from the first floor master bedroom and also from the attic bedroom.
The cottage is accessed directly from Shadycombe Road into a long open plan sitting room and kitchen and dining area beyond. This area is particularly cosy with two comfortable sofas and a leather chair set in front of an open fireplace with stone surround.
The kitchen/dining area is a small but well equipped, modern kitchen with stylish new units, 4-ring gas hob, electric oven, under counter fridge, washer/dryer and microwave. Good sized dining table with six chairs (including two folding). Door out to rear passageway and terrace area. (There is an additional mini freezer in the cupboard under the stairs)
There are three bedrooms. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with double bed, en suite shower room, second bedroom with double bed and 2nd floor (attic) - twin bedroom with 3' single beds and stairgate, and is only suitable for children. In addition to the en suite is a second shower room on the first floor, with power shower, wash-hand basin and w.c.
Outside there is a good sized paved terrace to the rear of the cottage with table, chairs and barbeque. This is a fantastic location for a coastal break, with quick access to Salcombe’s picturesuque waterfront, slipways and beaches.
This property sleeps a max of 4 adults.
Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

otherwise a lovely stay.

A few things to note are it could do with a thorough clean in the off season as there were multiple stains on the carpets, rugs and curtains. The WiFi also doesnât work well at all when connected and kept turning off, so donât rely on that if you have children with iPads etc. The cottage itself was lovely, very cosy. We enjoyed the sofas and the bed was very comfy. The back garden was lovely, we enjoyed sitting here in the sun. We would stay again and recommend this property.

It's just a few minutes to the town centre - either over the hill past the church or on the flat along Island St and Victoria Quay. The cottage was well equipped. The sofas and double beds in particular were very comfortable! The twin beds on the top floor were very soft and my son said they squeaked when you moved which woke him up. Also a dishwasher would be a great addition! We are a family of two adults and two children - it might have felt a little cozy in the living / dining areas with more in the party. Salcombe is a family favourite and we had a super holiday in this lovely cottage, thank you!
