Warren Cottage in Devon is highly praised for its beautiful gardens, comfortable setting, and excellent location for coastal walks. Guests appreciate the warm welcome, including the thoughtful provision of fresh farm produce. While some minor issues with facilities and maintenance are noted, the overall experience is one of a delightful and peaceful holiday retreat.
Most guests found the cottage to be well-presented, though there were isolated comments about the presence of spiders and some kitchen equipment not being perfectly clean. The majority of feedback, however, suggests a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is consistently lauded for its beauty and proximity to coastal paths and Dartmouth. It is described as peaceful and idyllic, with stunning sunset views and access to local attractions.
The cottage is generally considered cosy and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable sofas and hard dining chairs, which slightly affected the comfort score.
Facilities are well-regarded, with special mentions of the garden and the welcome pack. Criticisms include a lack of sufficient crockery, uncomfortable seating, and the absence of a shower in the bathroom. Wi-Fi issues were also noted but resolved.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtful touches, such as the welcome pack with farm produce. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed with every stay.
Warren Cottage sits at the end of a small terrace of three, with lovely views across country fields and farmland and distant sea views from the first-floor bedrooms. Located at Little Dartmouth Farm the property sits a mile or so above the historic naval town of Dartmouth and is just a few minutes’ drive from the village of Stoke Fleming. Dartmouth's array of boutiques, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as the picturesque River Dart are all accessible within a lovely 30-45-minute walk (or about 5-10 minutes in the car) whilst the award-winning Blackpool Sands beach is just a short drive away. Woodlands Leisure Park and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club are just 3-4 miles outside of Dartmouth.
The main entrance leads into a tiled lobby with views over the garden. A further door leads into the open plan living area, a spacious, sunny and very well-presented room with oak flooring and views across the garden. The sitting area has two three-seater sofas, table, flat screen TV with Freeview, DVD player, iPod docking unit and wood-burning stove (logs supplied). At the other end of the room is a dining area with table and chairs to seat six comfortably. Double doors open fully to reveal a large tiled hallway off which is the stylishly presented and well- equipped kitchen. Also on the ground floor is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and door through to the cloakroom with w.c.
The en suite master bedroom (second floor) has a King size bed, bedside units, fitted wardrobe and shelving, widescreen TV and delightful country views. The adjacent shower room has a walk-in cubicle (with large rain head and separate hand-held showers), vanity unit with marble worktop, w.c. and heated towel rail. On the first floor are two further bedrooms each with views over the farmhouse grounds and sea beyond. One bedroom is a double with wooden framed bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, drawers and chair, whilst the second is a twin with two divan beds.
To the front and side of the cottage is a good-sized area of private lawn with steps down to a gate and access to the coastal path. To the rear is an area of paved sunny terrace with oak table, six chairs and Weber barbeque available on request. Parking or up to two cars on the 'green' lane at the rear of the cottage.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the stunning Start Bay coastline, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many popular events such as the annual Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth Food Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta. This historic town boasts interesting landmarks, such as Dartmouth Castle, the Britannia Royal Naval College, and the National Trust’s Greenway House just a short ferry ride away. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through the rolling countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat or ferry trip across to Kingswear, on to Brixham, or down the river to the village of Dittisham. For those seeking sandy beaches, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular beaches just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.

The owner was helpful with local information and gave us an interesting tour of her garden. The whole family really enjoyed our week at Warren Cottage.

It beautifully/ tastefully decorated throughout (quality furniture and kitchenware), with a really well equipped kitchen and lovely open plan layout downstairs. Great private outdoor space. Also unique and very worthwhile is the grounds/ garden tour they offer, either with Sally (host) or Dave (head gardener). The house and garden have been very thoughtfully incorporated into the 350 acre farm, with lots of wildflower meadows/ lawns, new woodlands, and beautiful walled garden for veg and cut flowers. Really inspirational. And the cottage sits beside a path/ bridleway which links into the SW coastal path. We will definitely be back. (There is something odd in the folder in the house about the wifi being complicated and low speed, but on the unlimited 'slow' speed network we were reliably getting 40-50mbps.)

It is beautifully decorated and well stocked, with the fresh produce from the farm being a fabulous extra touch. The peace and quiet was just what we needed and the walk in and out of Dartmouth, despite the hills, was a joy. Helped work off all the good food we ate. Thank you.
