Guests say

The Old Barn in Swanage, Dorset, receives high praise for its spaciousness, cleanliness, and prime location close to attractions. Guests appreciate the peaceful setting, proximity to steam trains, and thoughtful touches like cakes and welcome gifts. While some minor maintenance issues are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Reviews consistently mention the property being very clean and well-maintained, with only a few isolated comments about minor cleaning oversights. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the guests' enjoyable experience.

The property's location is frequently highlighted as peaceful and convenient, ideal for exploring Dorset's attractions like Swanage, Corfe Castle, and the Jurassic Coast. The proximity to the steam railway is a unique and appreciated feature.

Guests find the barn comfortable, with special mention of the spaciousness and the ground floor facilities catering to those with mobility issues. Some minor comments about lumpy mattresses and a desire for a more enclosed garden for pets slightly affect the score.

The barn is well-equipped, with guests appreciating the full range of amenities. However, some reviews note the absence of certain items like BBQs, washing lines, and the need for updates to items like kettles and sofas. The presence of a small fridge and full bins on arrival also impacted the score.

Many reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures such as cakes and welcome gifts upon arrival. While these are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

There are three spacious bedrooms, all offering different sleeping configurations to suit a wide range of needs, including a ground floor bedroom with adjacent wet room, which may suit less mobile visitors. Outside is a front gravelled area, to catch the last of the sun's rays when you return home from a busy day.
