What our customers say about their holidays

    • Phil - Verified booking

The publicity photograph was misleading, the house didn’t have kerb appeal.

But on opening the front door , it was “wow”. So, a lovely property inside. Clean, modern, well-equipped. A sweet little patio outside. Conveniently placed for the town centre. A property that would suit younger couples rather than those of us in our later years. No blinds or curtains downstairs, so no privacy one darkness arrives. Sykes gave us confusing information about accessing the property via the key box. In an earlier email you quoted one code number and then in the final message you gave us another one. That was the number we had kept in our phone and it didn’t work on the box we first tried. We then found the second box at ground level, which accessing it was quite a challenge for an 80 year-old. Rather off putting! And then we were disappointed that the television set was not equipped to receive the terrestrial TV channels. In the welcome folder at the property there was information about linking our own device to the TV set but we didn’t have any kit with us to make that possible. Luckily we did have an iPad with us so we could watch the programmes we wanted to see. This information should have been included in the property details on the Sykes website. Most disappointing. Finally, we noted that a significant amount of the crockery was chipped and that previous guests had placed glasses on the coffee table leaving water marks. Not quite top quality considering that it was a newly built property.

Fabulous location for walking to the beach huts daily.

I hadn’t realised there was no dishwasher at the property which was a bit of a disappointment having to wash up for 4 people nightly. The kitchen utensils/pots & pans do need looking at & renewing. The knives were all pretty blunt and a lot of the pans were quite well used with bottoms scrapped off. The downstairs shower head needs looking at as it just trickled out a few of the holes in the middle of the head & we all ended up using the upstairs shower despite picking a property with 2 bathrooms for ease. The info book said to put bins out on Thurs night for a Friday collection but we saw the residents putting theirs out Thursday morning luckily so we did same & collection is Thursday, so that needs updating. The WiFi seemed very slow when 4 of us were connected & if you wanted to browse internet you had to come off the WiFi. As I say it’s a great location but parts of the property & kitchen contents need a bit of TLC. Also it’s the only holiday let we stayed in that had no welcome pack at all.

A beautiful modern property. Furnishings and fittings are nice and modern and there is a good supply of equipment and crockery (maybe a few more small plates would be good) in the kitchen. Ideal for families. Location is on the edge of the town centre and suited us perfectly. It’s up a hill from the centre but one of the routes isn’t steep at all. Good private parking with easy access to the rear of the house. Rooms are well proportioned with plenty of space. Stayed here before and liked it enough to return. As on my previous stay the only downside is that the WiFi doesn’t work and despite numerous attempts to contact the owner (without success) no explanation or help was given. I’m just pleased I didn’t need to contact the owners for anything more serious, Fortunately it didn’t spoil our holiday.

Compact little cottage on the outskirts of Swanage. More than adequate for a short break although possibly more suited to a couple than for three. Good bed , nice linen and towels and a modern bathroom. We didn’t cook at all but appeared to be everything you would need to do so. There are some lovely local cafes and restaurants so we enjoyed trying them out ! Not the easiest of places to pull up to unload on arrival but after that we managed to park each day just a little way down the road where there are parking spaces off the road. Access to the little garden is up a few steep steps so be mindful if you intend to use the garden or need to let a dog out. We did have a nice time - but be aware it’s too far to walk to the beach really and we had to use our car which adds to the parking fees.

    • Mr Dawson - Verified booking

We had a lovely stay at Hill View cottage. It was great to have off road parking as it was easy to unload the car through the back gate. We only had a little dog and the rear enclosed back yard was ideal for him as we could leave the French doors open and not worry. I think a big dog would be too big for the the yard. The view from kitchen window was lovely. Ideal location 10 min walk to town centre. I think that the owner should stipulate that shoes must be removed at front door. We don’t allow shoes on in our house and this will keep carpets clean. The bedrooms were lovely and well kitted out with good storage, plenty of clothes hangers. The kitchen had all the utensils you needed. The cleaning team was very thorough with some lovely touches.
