What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Sexton - Verified booking

We had a number of problems throughout our holiday. The front door keys were very difficult to remove from the lock, so we had to use the back door to enter and exit the property. On arrival, the internet was not working. The remote controls to the upstairs tv and set top box did not work. We were unable to access Netflix and Disney+ on the tv. The internal bathroom door handle detached from the door, leaving one of our party trapped inside. The bathroom door would only open partially, because the floor was stopping it. We had no hot water on the final three days of our holiday. This was fixed once, but was not working the next day. We had to phone about these problems on 5 of our 8 days in the property. We think it unlikely that you will include our review on the website, but we would appreciate it if you would ask the owners to consider a partial rental refund to compensate for the problems arising.

Herbert's Place was a lovely property. The decor was very smart, clean and 'seasidey.' The kitchen was well equipped. There was even a steamer which is very rare in holiday lets. Good washing line for drying swimming stuff! Comfortable beds and peaceful location close to the town centre and sea. Great little courtyard with a shelter awning over the table and chairs if needed. All the crockery and cooking utensils seemed new, and in very good condition, as were the furnishings. Quality Bosch cooker and hob, and very new dishwasher too. The parking space is a real bonus in Swanage. But you don't need a car once you're there. Short walk into town, paths to Durlston, and along the coast. And from the town there's the steam train to Corfe Castle. We'd recommend the Breezer buses too. Wrap up warm though on the top deck if you are coming back later!

    • Mrs Hylton De-Vall - Verified booking

The cottage is lovely. So comfortable and with a wonderful outside decking area and garden. We had glorious sunny weather, and the bifold doors whilst relaxing later in the evening were well used. It was helpful to know from the website info about steep stairs in the cottage, so you know before you decide to book. However, the owner has bannisters on both side of the stairs so they were not an issue. Swanage and its beach are lovely and a doable walk from the cottage if you don't want to drive. There are buses too with stops just yards away from the cottage. Plenty of shops and pubs around and, of course, the wonderful Swanage station and the steam trains taking you on a short ride to Corfe and further.

    • Mr Eason - Verified booking

Lovely location, Swanage is nice. The house had very tight off road parking even for one car. The kitchen and dining room is lovely and we spent most of our time there. The bedrooms are all spacious with adequate wardrobes but could do with perhaps a chest of draws in both. The bunk beds were fine but the lower of the two very tight for our 3 year old to get in and out of. The location is very close to a large Co op which is next to the Swanage Railway whicg we used to visit Corfe Castle. Swanage itself was lovely, lots of shops and arcades to keep the children amused when the weather turned. The property at steam whistle was clean and i would recommend and happily stay they again.

After only booking a week before our holiday, we were pleased to find this gem! The cottage has everything we needed and the extra touches were nice to see - tea bags for our arrival! We all found the beds very comfy - the girls were hot on the last two nights upstairs so they de-camped to the top lounge! (very handy) We loved Swanage and Barney the dog had not been on a train, bus, or boat before! Everywhere welcomes dogs and we particularly enjoyed Sunday lunch at The Anchor & Ship Inn. Girls liked the waffle place and Baboo for iced coffee. Girls went paddle boarding on the pier twice (cheaper than the beach) and highly recommend.Thank you so much, we had a blast!
