Orchard Lodge is a well-received holiday rental in Devon, praised for its peacefulness, dog-friendly environment, and welcoming hosts. Guests enjoyed the property's rural charm, garden, and additional facilities like a tennis court and games room. The location serves as a tranquil retreat with opportunities to explore Devon's countryside and coastlines.
Most guests found the lodge clean and comfortable. However, one review mentioned issues with flies and another was concerned about stained bedding, which slightly lowers the score.
The lodge's countryside setting is central for exploring Devon, with some guests loving the tranquillity. However, the access via narrow roads and distance from shops was a drawback for some.
The lodge is generally seen as comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy living room. However, some guests found the beds too firm, affecting the comfort score.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a tennis court, games room, and dog-washing shower. The property is equipped for families and pets, though some mentioned the need for maintenance, such as sofa replacement and recycling management.
While the reviews reflect a welcoming and helpful attitude from the owners, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that could be quantified in this category.

The living room was comfortable with lovely sofas. The beds were very very firm unfortunately none of us slept well. The kitchen was well equipped with virtually everything needed to cook. Very pleasant owner who even went out of his way to find us a teapot. Unfortunately things took a downward turn on departure day. My 92 yrs old mum had used the bedroom downstairs and when I stripped the bed linen I was shocked. The pillow was very badly sweat stained and the duvet had stains too. I was very upset to find that my mum had been sleeping in that bed and had I realised about the bedding I would have had it changed or bought new myself.

It was a great base from which to explore the surrounding area, and so much to see. The Lodge was exactly as described, really pretty, spacious, clean and comfortable that had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda overlooking the garden. Our dog also loved the garden and surrounding fields. We met the owners during our stay, they were gave us some great ideas of places to explore. We had dinner at the Staple Cross Inn which was just a 2 minute drive away (make sure you call them to book). The food was fantastic, a tasty home-cooked meal at a friendly local pub, and genuinely the best apple and blackberry scrumble weâve ever had, and also the most yummy âfudgieâ pie (something weâd never heard of until then!) with homemade ice cream - you must try it - you wonât be disappointed!
