The Bothy in Suffolk offers a tranquil, rural setting with spacious and comfortable accommodation. Guests appreciate the peaceful environment, the wildlife, and the property's suitability for dogs. While some find the decor dated, the charm of the cottage and the helpfulness of the hosts are frequently mentioned positives.
Cleanliness receives mixed feedback. Some guests find the property clean and well-presented, while others note areas that require attention, such as dusty cobwebs and bathroom cleanliness. The overall impression suggests room for improvement in this area.
The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and rural charm. It is considered a peaceful retreat, ideal for relaxation and wildlife watching. Its proximity to local towns and pubs is also appreciated, making it a good base for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the lounge and beds comfortable. However, some mention that the shower and bed could be improved, and the dated decor is noted, though it does not significantly detract from the overall comfort.
Facilities are deemed adequate, with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious accommodation. Some guests suggest updates are needed, particularly for the shower and kitchen appliances. Maintenance issues like bathroom lights are occasionally reported, indicating a need for some refurbishment.
While some guests mention receiving tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits upon arrival, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
Eye 4 miles. A charming, detached cottage resting on a 160-acre working arable and livestock farm, set in a rural location in the village of Stoke Ash. The Bothy has been designed to offer a peaceful base for couples looking to get away to a beautiful part of East Anglia. The large kitchen is ideal for rustling up a tasty dinner for your partner and getting together around the dining table, while the spacious sitting room has doors out to the lovely lawned garden. There is one double bedroom with bedside tables and reading lamps, and the family bathroom offers a shower over the bath. To the exterior, you have your very own private garden area in which to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining or soak up the sun with a refreshing beverage in hand. Eye itself offers a variety of shops, pubs and eateries, while nearby Stowmarket and Diss provide yet more choice. There are many museums in the area, as well as a golf course at Stowmarket, or slightly further afield lies the picturesque Suffolk coastline, while inland are the cycle trails and Go Ape! high wire experience at Thetford Forest. Alternatively, spend an afternoon at the city of Norwich where you will be delighted to find further amenities and attractions including the Norman castle and the 11th-century cathedral. A superb retreat for a relaxing holiday with your loved one.
With a number of shops, pubs and restaurants, the small town of Eye is a well-served town located in the heart of East Anglia. With monthly cinema nights held at the community centre, this charming location is just five miles away from the market town of Diss in the beautiful Waveney Valley. With examples of Georgian and Edwardian buildings as well as an award winning museum and the public park, Eye is a thriving community offering plenty to do. There is a market every Friday and coincides with a local antiques and collectables auction. The town of Stowmarket is close by and provides an 18-hole golf course along with Suffolk's only open-air museum and a variety of shops and pubs.

It is well equipped with everything you could need for an enjoyable stay and conveniently situated for getting out and about with good pubs nearby. As other reviewers have already stated, there are a few shortcomings, most of which did not affect our enjoyment and could be remedied easily and cheaply (please sort out the curtain headings!!) However, a significant disappointment, for us at least, was the bed which was not very comfortable. Such a shame that the super roomy bedroom had only a 4'6" bed. Overall, The Bothy represents very good value for money in a perfect spot to enjoy total peace and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there.

Lots of information available in well organised folders. It had everything you would need to cater for yourselves - just as well since Eye was a little further than we imagined! With a car though it was not a problem. A lovely spot for a relaxing break or to explore beautiful Suffolk The only problem we had was with the tv remote control which needs some attention
Brian
The bath and shower not easy to use, I also found the bed a bit to firm. On the plus side, large lounge and kitchen, garden and quiet location.
