Nestled amongst trees in a secluded location in the centre of the vibrant market town Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire is Avaelie House. This wonderful, terraced, stone-fronted cottage boasts an excellent riverside location with views over the flowing Hebden River which creates tranquil surroundings; you wouldn’t even realise you are in the town's centre! This cottage also boasts an allocated parking space which is like gold dust in this bustling town, it also welcomes up to four guests in two spacious bedrooms making it ideal for couples, friends or families looking to explore West Yorkshire. After exploring the town’s attractions, cross the threshold into the living area where the electric fire creates a warm and homely atmosphere, settle into one of the plush sofas and flick on the Smart TV and peruse the films available on Netflix. Stay snuggled up while the designated chef heads to the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare a hearty meal that the whole group can enjoy at the dining table; tuck in and toast your getaway with a glass of wine. Later in the evening, step outside to soak up the last of the sun in the private patio or take a leisurely stroll along the riverside to be soothed by the sounds of flowing water. When sleep calls, retire to either the king or double room, both are furnished with storage for your belongings and are serviced by a sleek bathroom. National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill are worth a visit, especially when the Blue Pig is open, or climb the steep cobbled road to historic Heptonstall with the ruins of a mediaeval church and the graveyard where Sylvia Plath is buried. Ted Hughes’ family lived here for generations and much of his poetry was inspired by the area. Continue the literary theme in Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters with the Parsonage museum and a statue immortalising the sisters and their contribution to literature. Halifax boasts the Grade I Georgian Piece Hall where hand loom weavers went to sell the “pieces” they produced, or take the kids to Eureka, the children’s interactive museum which is nearby. Hebden Bridge, a charming Pennine town in the Calderdale area, is home to the picturesque Rochdale Canal as well as a charming Victorian railway station. This beautiful area is the first town in the United Kingdom to participate in the Ramblers' Association-backed 'Walkers are Welcome' initiative, and it is surrounded by excellent walking country, including the National Trust-owned Hardcastle Crags and the Pennine Way. The second stage of the Tour de France in 2014, the Tour de Yorkshire in 2015, and the Tour de Yorkshire in 2018 all passed through the area, making it ideal for scenic drives and fabulous cycling opportunities. Visit Haworth, where the magnificent Parsonage Museum honours the lives of the illustrious Bronte family. Worth Valley Railway is thriving and a must-see for steam railway enthusiasts, and the Eureka Museum is located in nearby Halifax, renowned for its Piece Hall and Victorian architecture. You can also travel seven miles to admire the stunning architecture at the Dean Clough complex. Skipton, known as the "Gateway to the Dales," and Holmfirth, made famous by Last of the Summer Wine, are both a short, scenic drive away.
