What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely pre-Christmas stay at Chuffing Cottage and hope to return again soon!

The modern cottage is located in a quiet residential development in Haworth and we were thrilled to hear and see a steam train go ‘chuffing’ by behind the house, within a few minutes of arriving! The excitement never wore off and we rushed to the window every time we heard the train coming - such a lovely treat for kids and adults alike! Well equipped, the cottage contains everything needed for a comfortable stay and we loved the beautiful welcome pack which featured some nice chocolate treats that were enjoyed by the children, as well as snacks, bread, milk and a bottle of wine; a very nice gesture to welcome visitors! Haworth Main Street with its quaint shops and eateries is only a short walk away - but worth noting it’s up a rather steep hill (as those who know the area will be aware: it’s all part of the charm). There’s a large ‘Co-op’ at the entrance to the development which is easily the size of small supermarket and can provide enough food and variety for a weekly shop on arrival. Inside, Chuffing cottage is much more spacious and attractive than the pictures on the site suggest, and the double height living area offers a lovely place to relax and watch tv. The property was warm, had plenty of storage space and also many towels etc available in the bathroom. We took advantage of a visit to the nearby Bronte Parsonage which is a lovely place to experience for those who have an interest in literature or history. We also went for a journey on the ‘Elf Express’ KWVR steam train and were joined by our family who live locally - for what turned out to be a fabulous Christmas treat! Overall the cottage was a fabulous base to visit our Yorkshire relatives and explore beautiful Haworth, and we hope to return again soon!

Has huge potential but needs some TLC Upon arriving after a 2 hr drive, a much needed coffee was needed but there wasn’t any or sugar and only a few teabags.

In fact there was not a lot of anything, one dishwasher tablet to last a week and no toilet roll in the bathroom. We started to unpack the few bits of food and drink we did bring to discover the fridge stunk of fish, that lasted all week. When we told the owner that we had arrived, we were informed that the washing machine had broke. Luckily we always bring enough clothes with us, otherwise we would have been having to find a laundrette. A lot of basic things were missing, the worst being no oven gloves for cooking. Something that is quite serious dangerous. The thing that really surprised us was it didn’t seem the property was properly clean; black mould in the shower, fungus in the bottom of the bins, mould on blind, dirty/marked towels and cutlery, plated and glasses that hadn’t been washed. Even a spot of blood on one of the pillows. Maybe we’ve been spoiled by the other properties we’ve stayed at but all in all quite disappointing and lead us to leave a day early. With some TLC and a bit of work, it could be amazing property but sadly not one we would visit again anytime soon. The location however is amazing, Hebden Bridge is a lovely town filled with independent shops. Also we couldn’t recommend the Robin Hood Inn enough, some of the best grub we’ve ever had!

The cottage has almost everything that you need.

I took a hairdryer with me as it is a fast one as that is what I prefer, luckily I did as there was not one in the cottage as is usually the case. A cupboard full of toilet rolls was not something I expected to see in the bathroom. The amount of cupboard space in the kitchen was great plus a lovely big fridge/freezer. We took advantage and used the washing machine and tumble dryer so there was less washing to do when we got home, they were super quick. The walk in wardrobe in the huge bedroom was big and unexpected in such a small cottage. The cottage might only be a one up one down but was perfect for 2 people. The photos don’t really do it justice. Hot tub was lovely and a good way to get over the day’s exploring. We did look for a visitors book as we like to read where people have been and given recommendations, we recommend Cannon Hall Farm which is just over an hour away and The Dog and Gun in Oxenhope for a superb meal.

A delightful modern and cosy 2bedroomed accommodation.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The property is exceptionally clean bright and airy. Although currently busy with building works during the day it is quiet and peaceful in the evening and night times. It is well situated to explore lots of interesting places in the local area and nearby Yorkshire Moors and Dales. The passing steam trains and babbling brook to the rear of the property adds to its charm. We were greatly impressed by the owner’s flexibility as we needed to change the dates of our stay at short notice and they accommodated our request without issue. A useful suggestion would be to have a separate information folder about local attractions and information etc A visitors book would also be beneficial to read and record comments and recommendations. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to our relatives and friends.

Well positioned just outside of the main centre of Haworth.

Less than 5 mins walk to the KWVR - steam trains (which run along behind the house). 5-10 mins walk to local takeaways: Chinese, Indian, pizza, fish and chips. And only 10 mins walk into the main cobbled streets of Haworth and the Parsonage - through the park if desired! See Victorian times come to life with back to back housing, mills etc House is well equipped with everything you would need on a holiday. Comfortable bed. Added bonus of the babbling beck at the back which can be heard with windows open and the welcome visit of a Heron! Must sees: Brontë Parsonage; Steam trains - Oakworth - where The Railway Children filmed; Shibden Hall; Hebden Bridge (great to go on the bus - TransdevGo app brilliant!); walk from Oakworth starion to Haworth also good. And the Moors.
