Guests appreciate the charming, well-situated 36 Highgate for its proximity to Beverley Minster and local amenities. The property offers a comfortable stay with a welcoming host, though some guests noted issues with parking and certain amenities.
Most reviews do not mention cleanliness issues, suggesting satisfactory standards, but one negative review significantly criticises the property's cleanliness, impacting the score.
The property's location is highly praised for its closeness to the Minster and town centre, with easy access to restaurants and shops, though parking can be challenging.
Guests generally find the apartment comfortable and warm, with a pleasant sitting room offering views. However, one review mentions a lack of hot water and decrepit furnishings, which affects the score.
The reviews provide mixed feedback on facilities, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen, but also a lack of a freezer compartment and washing machine. No clear consensus on maintenance can be drawn, and no mention of gifts is made, leading to an inconclusive score.
There is no mention of gifts or special attention to guest needs beyond the provision of a parking permit and the host's friendliness, thus it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness category.
36 Highgate is a duplex apartment, with a cottage feel, situated in the heart of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Ideal for a small family or couple, this retreat offers a welcoming accommodation with the amenities of Beverley town centre just a short walk away. Accessed via a metal spiral staircase, you enter the apartment onto the first floor with the bedrooms on the second floor. Wander into the lovely sitting room where you can spend your down time on the sofa with the TV on for a cosy night in. Step through into the kitchen/diner, a neutrally decorated room with all the necessary appliances and an appealing dining area where you can enjoy each mealtime together. Head upstairs to find the bedrooms, including a double with en-suite bathroom and a twin which is ideal for children. Outside there is a terrace overlooking rooftops where you can enjoy your morning coffee while contemplating how to spend the day. Additional to this, the Minster Garden is open to all and access can be gained via the small iron gate next to the Minster Vicarage and offices (see sign on the gate). Stroll the cobbled streets of Beverley to find a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants to indulge in, or brush up local history while exploring the 13th century Minister, widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest Gothic churches and frequently used as a double of Westminster Abbey in films and dramas. If all of that seems a little too energetic, escape the wildflower meadows of The Westwood and the Yorkshire Wolds. The seaside resort of Hornsea can be reached in less than half an hours drive and is an excellent day out with its award-winning, Blue Flag beach. This self-catering apartment can be enjoyed by families and couples, all-year-round.

.,absolutely a joke. ridiculous dated and grubby furniture! Shower and tub that can only be judged as old and decrepit not enough hot water for a bath..towels looked like taken from a homeless shelter.. Kitchen equipment poor ( had to purchase a toaster) don't waste your time on a car permit.. no where to park even with one.. all in all the owners do not care one bit about the state of their property or our/ your comfort. dont waste your time and money awful place to stay..

Situated only yards away from the stunning Beverley Minster and within a couple of minutes walk of the pedestrianised town centre, 36 Highgate is an apartment furnished in a cottage like style, fully in sympathy with its surroundings. The sitting room is dual aspect and affords stunning views of the Minster, which is illuminated at night. I was there in March and found the apartment to be warm and comfortable as well as offering all the basic facilities for self-catering. For those wishing to eat out, there is an excellent choice of restaurants and pavement cafés in the two market squares and the pedestrianised streets that link them. A wide variety of shops are within immediate reach. There is a pub just across the road set in a building dating from the early medieval period and another pub (the White Horse, known to the locals as 'Nellies') that has barely changed from late Victorian times, has a labyrinth of small rooms with open fires and is still gas lit. The Minster itself is a truly exceptional church of Cathedral proportions, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England and a focal point for a variety of musical performances and cultural activities. There is also another fine medieval parish church, St. Mary's, at the opposite end of the town centre, about ten minutes walk away. The owner is exceptionally welcoming and takes great care to cater for the individual needs of her guests. A real gem, and somewhere that I have pencilled in for many repeat visits.
