Further afield you can find Leeds, a lively city full of museums such as The Leeds Industrial Museum, which was at one point in history the world’s largest woollen mill, natural landmarks including the Kirkstall Valley Nature Reserve, and for those soap-opera enthusiasts, book onto The Emmerdale Village Tour where you can experience the setting of one of Britain’s most-enduring television series. Enjoy all of this and more during a stay at Bride Cross Granary.
Only eight miles from Harrogate, the historic market town of Otley is located in Lower Wharfedale and is on the border between North and West Yorkshire. Otley, which is rich in history, has a lot to offer tourists, including numerous family-friendly activities that take place all year long. Three street markets every week, a monthly farmers' market, numerous specialty stores, award-winning bakeries and butchers, high-street chains, and three supermarkets can be found in Otley. Good cuisine and a selection of drinks are available at the many traditional pubs and inns. The charming Riverside Park offers lovely walks along the River Wharfe, which flows through the centre of the town, and Chevin Forest Park's forested slope, cliffs, and moorland offers breathtaking views of both the city and the magnificent surroundings. Otley has a bellman who announces the news and happenings of the town, which adds to its attractiveness. One of the most picturesque spots in the area is close by Bolton Abbey, and the walk along the river to the "Strid" is essential. There is a wonderful assortment of stores, pubs, restaurants, and cafés in Ilkley and Harrogate, including Bettys Tea Rooms, unquestionably the best tea shop in Yorkshire. The ideal starting point for exploring this region of Yorkshire is Wharfedale.

It's a perfect base to explore towns near and far. The cleanliness was second to none. The bathroom is well equipped, with a stunning standalone bath and powerful shower. The kitchen, although compact, pretty much met requirements. The only thing we found is that the smoke alarm is very sensitive and, if you like cooking, a 2 ring hob forces you to be a little inventive. In the living room, as it was September, it was chilly but the electric heaters provided were really effective at warming up the room very quickly. The sofas were lovely and comfortable. The bedroom is also lovely, but the bedding could do with a refresh as it's a little faded and tired (if you pardon the pun) and there's buttons missing off the bottom of the duvet cover. Although we would love to stay again, the proximity to the owners (an inter-connecting door away) made us a little uncomfortable. I must say though that the owners are lovely, we just felt like we were in their home. I'm sure for most it wouldn't be an issue at all. Thank you John and Rosey
