East Row Lodge is praised for its superb location opposite the beach and its comfortable furnishings. Guests enjoy the outside space and proximity to local amenities. The property's charm and the views it offers are frequently mentioned, contributing to a pleasant stay.
The property has received mixed feedback regarding cleanliness. Some guests have found it to be well-maintained, while others have noted issues with deep cleaning and the presence of insects, leading to a slightly above average score.
The location is consistently lauded for its proximity to the beach and local attractions. The convenience of having a parking space is also appreciated, making it a highly desirable aspect of the property.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy. However, some have mentioned that the light curtains in the bedrooms allow in too much light, affecting sleep quality. The annex is also noted to be less luxurious than the main property.
Facilities are adequate but several reviews point out maintenance issues such as problems with the hot water system, toilet flush, and kitchen appliances. The garden and outdoor furniture also require attention.
While some guests have mentioned a welcome pack, there is insufficient information to determine the consistency of such gestures or their impact on the overall experience. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

There is also a charming twin bedroom with porthole windows and two full size 3′ single beds.
The stylish house bathroom has bath, shower over, WC and hand wash basin.
The beach hut suite, with underfloor heating, offers another lovely double bedroom with en-suite shower room, with shower, WC and hand wash basin, plus its own raised sun deck.
The gardens, which overlook the sea, are enclosed and decked and can be lit at night. Table and chairs are provided for al fresco dining – imagine sitting with a cup of tea, or glass of wine in hand watching the waves.
The ancient fishing port of Whitby lies at the mouth of the River Esk and is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire, with its superb coastline and close proximity to the spectacular North York Moors. It was dirty, poorly maintained and disgusting. We paid in full and tried to contact someone on arrival. I would like a full refund, we did not stay. You should be ashamed of this property. I am awaiting information from Sykes cottages. Please take this property out of your portfolio to avoid total disappointment. Itâs scandalous.

We love the location, across the road from the beach; appreciate having some outside space with garden furniture for relaxing and itâs certainly a plus point having car parking. The apartment is well equipped. There are some negatives. Hot water system needs some attention with loud high-pitched screeching, especially in en-suite, when hot water turned on. Outside space spoilt by weeds. A lot of woodlice in carpets and a few cobwebs with spiders. However, a charming apartment and we will be back!
