Seastar Cottage in Whitby is highly praised for its cleanliness, stylish decor, and prime location close to the harbour. Guests find the beds comfortable and the property well-equipped, though some minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements are noted. The property is ideal for a seaside escape, offering a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.
Guests consistently report that Seastar is very clean and tidy, contributing to a welcoming and comfortable stay.
The property's location is greatly appreciated for its proximity to central Whitby and the harbour, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
The property is described as comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a cosy lounge. However, some guests note the lack of seating for six people and the steepness of the stairs.
While the property is well-equipped and stylish, there are several comments about minor maintenance issues such as peeling paint, a small fridge freezer, and insufficient lighting in some areas.
There are positive comments about the high standard of furnishings and bathroom toiletries provided, but there is no mention of gifts, so it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness in terms of gifts.

On this occasion I have come away feeling let down, I am sorry to say. The house smelt of animals and unclean, we couldnât leave the back door open as the yard smelt really strongly of urine, we tried to clean it. The dining table couldnât be used when 1 plate on it it wobbled and with it being glass didnât want to chance it falling off. There is visible damp on the main bedroom wall in the corner of the room, there was a wardrobe door handle on the floor. The bathroom has a towel rail hanging off, In the loft room the window doesnât shut securely so I didnât want to leave my 8 year old up there, the curtains where hanging down with no way of shutting them as hooks are missing. I thought with this being a family property there should have been a washing machine also, and Wi-Fi was really bad, unable to watch any television as this was really glitchy, if we hadnât taken our own fire stick we would have been unable to watch a thing. As I said we have had lovely cottages through Sykes and they have always been our go to. I donât feel this lives up to standards of previous cottages yet this one is one of the more expensive ones we have stayed in, really disappointed sorry. I would not recommend this cottage. Such a shame as the pictures on line are beautiful.
