Plan your holiday your way with Sheffield Holiday Cottages

Sheffield is a cool and cosmopolitan city in the heart of Yorkshire. There's lots to see and do in Sheffield city centre including the Millennium Galleries, Kelham Island Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

The city of Sheffield is also home to a bustling high street and vibrant nightlife with plenty of brilliant restaurants, bars and pubs, and fantastic live music venues, perfect for a memorable night out.

Fancy a break from the city? Surrounding Sheffield you'll find picturesque sprawling countryside and the beautiful Peak District National Park, ideal for outdoor adventures.

To complete your trip, stay in one of our hand-selected Sheffield holiday cottages. We have dozens of gorgeous self-catering properties packed with character, charm, and all the home comforts you could wish for.

Why choose a Sheffield weekend break?

Located in South Yorkshire is Sheffield, a unique city on the edge of the incredible Peak District, so city excitement and stunning natural beauty go hand in hand.

Sheffield is built on hills and rivers, the main one being the River Don, and completely regenerated itself after the Industrial Revolution. Old factory buildings and warehouses retain their historic stature but are now the homes of thriving independent businesses, restaurants, and other cool eateries. In short, Sheffield is a city with a vibrant history mixed with a modern and creative edge.

While the city is well-known for its steel production, there is so much more to Sheffield. It's a multicultural city with an eclectic arts scene, from museums and galleries to theatre and live music. One of our favourite areas is Kelham Island, which was once a powerhouse of industry and is now an eclectic and trendy neighbourhood.

Sheffield's museums are all free to visit, and many of them tell the stories of the city's past. The Kelham Island Museum is a fascinating insight into Sheffield going back over 300 years, while Weston Park Museum located just outside the city centre, provides history going back to prehistoric times.

For a spot of tranquillity in the heart of the city, head to the Winter Garden, a beautiful oasis and one of Europe's largest urban greenhouses. The eco-friendly building is a lovely way to enjoy a spot of respite, where you can relax among over 2,000 plants from across the globe. Or why not visit the beautiful Sheffield Cathedral and marvel at the oldest building in the city?

Impressive street art is everywhere in Sheffield. You can take a street art tour around the city or pop into The Millennium Gallery or Graves Gallery for more street art fun.

Music fans will be in heaven when visiting Sheffield. The city is renowned for its music scene, with famous artists including Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Pulp, Def Leppard, and The Human League hailing from Sheffield. You can even spot a huge portrait of Jarvis Cocker on the side of a building in Kelham Island.

To experience some top-notch live music, head to iconic venues such as The Leadmill, the longest running live music venue in the city.

Sheffield is also a dream come true for foodies. It has a thriving independent food scene, with countless cafes, eateries, restaurants, street food stalls, and bars everywhere you look. To discover more amazing food spots, join a Kelham Island Food Tour, or go to Cutlery Works, a food hall in Kelham Island with a buzzing atmosphere and lots of independent food vendors.

There's also lots of excellent shopping to be had in Sheffield. For something a little different, venture slightly south of the city centre and have a wander around the Antiques Quarter. It's a quirky area filled with ancient buildings and hidden antique gems. Meadowhall is a huge shopping mall packed with over 250 stores from high street to designer. There's also a massive food court and a cinema.

With so much to see and do in Sheffield, you'll only wish your trip could go on for longer.

Stone farm cottage is like a home from home, it has everything you need for a comfy stay.

Great size bedrooms and comfortable beds. Very well equipped kitchen and a secure garden surrounded by beautiful scenery. The cottage is located on a working farm which is such an added bonus, so many animals and the owners are more than happy to take you around to see them. As we stayed during lambing season we got to see the baby lambs, some just a few hours old, an amazing experience and brilliant if you bring children, they will love seeing all the animals! Really loved staying here and cannot thank the owners enough, very friendly hard working family, always happy to help with anything you need or take the time out to speak with you. Excellent hosts. We received a very warm welcome and a friendly good bye. I will certainly recommend to family and friends and will definitely be booking to come back again.

      Stone Farm was brilliant!

We were lucky with the sunshine and they had lots of lambs and some 3 day old piglets which were so cute! Rachel, Richard and Hunter were all so friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. We (with grandsons) collected eggs from the chickens and ducks. The cottage was warm and cosy, clean and bright. The garden is a lovely spot to watch the horses and all the animals from and to see the sunset. Although it’s a working farm it was actually very tranquil and relaxing. Oh, and the sausages for breakfast, delivered to our door, were the best I’ve ever had. We are also looking forward to our lamb shanks which we brought home! We will definitely go back to stay. Many thanks to Rachel and family. Keep on peddling Hunter!

We had a lovely time at Stone Farm Cottage.

Rachel and the whole farm were warm and welcoming. My kids had a great time having breakfast with Brock and Lotte every morning! The cottage was well kitted up. The kitchen was fully functional. There was a washing machine for laundry, and a clothes-line outside, so we needn't have brought so many sets of clothing! (Perhaps a bit more drying space/lines would have been better as we were a family of 5!) The house was clean and well kept. No complaints about the bathroom, and there was also a hairdryer available. The bedrooms were cozy and the beds were perfect for sinking into after a full day of walking. I would definitely recommend Stone Farm Cottage, and would return again in the future!

      Stone Farm Cottage is lovely.

It’s very well decorated and equipped, and remarkably spacious. The secure garden was lovely for our dogs with the horses, cows, sheep and pigs in the next field entertaining us with their antics. Rachel is also lovely, her cottage attaches to Stone Farm Cottage, and she couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. We got a tour of the farm and we’re incredibly lucky to get to witness some piglets being born. What a fantastic experience! We would all recommend trying the delicious farm sausages, eggs and the amazing lamb lollipops (the latter were the star of the show for a nearby family BBQ we attended). We very much hope that we can return some time.

Lovely welcome, fabulous host - Rachel and family made us very welcome and offered to show us around the farm.

We would have, but the weather was against us with lashing rain. Lovely working farm, fabulous views. Would have liked a more powerful shower. Only one toilet in this property. Sadly, couldn't get booked into local pub so had to get takeaway but all good. Be careful on main road, we took our dog for a walk to explore and the road was treacherous with cars coming round the bend by the pub. Better to take to the fields for fabulous walking and lots of wildlife. Bed was comfy, all amenities provided except bathroom toiletries and a welcome gift of milk, teabags and choccy biccies.
