Lydia Cottage in Cromarty is highly praised for its charm, cleanliness, and prime location close to the sea, with many guests planning return visits. The cottage's cosy atmosphere and proximity to local amenities are frequently mentioned, alongside the scenic walks ideal for dogs. Some guests noted the need for better mattresses and garden maintenance, but these were minor points in otherwise glowing reviews.
The cottage is generally described as clean, with several guests specifically mentioning its cleanliness. However, a few minor comments about dog hair and missed spots by cleaners slightly affect the score.
The location is consistently lauded for being in the heart of Cromarty, close to the sea, and within walking distance to local attractions, shops, and eateries, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday.
Guests find the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable, but there are multiple mentions of the need for new mattresses and better towels, indicating room for improvement in overall comfort.
The cottage is well-equipped for a holiday stay, with a well-appointed kitchen and comfortable living areas. However, comments about the need for additional kitchenware, like baking trays, and maintenance issues like garden upkeep and a leaky shower suggest some attention to facilities is required.
While guests appreciate the cottage's amenities and some mention a locally made shortbread gift, there are not enough references to specific thoughtful gestures or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed.

It is such a wonderful place to unwind and relax.

It was quaint, comfortable and in a very enchanting village. One or two minor negatives would be overgrown shrubbery which made seeing the key code on outside wall key safe very difficult because of light levels. The shower leaked onto the floor due to a sealing issue. Also in the bathroom there was unsightly black mould around outside of shower cubicle and above the window blind (photos can be provided). No handwash/soap in either bathroom or kitchen. In the sitting room which was comfy we found a dogs ball and bits of fluff etc under the couch obviously from previous rentals..missed by cleaner? These small details marked this property down for us.

A little bar just a short walk down the road is warm and welcomingâ serves food lunch and dinner and has a side room to read or play board games. The ferry operates during summer months to make a quick jaunt north easy. Cottage was clean, quiet and comfortable as we had a cozy fireplace for the cool nights⦠would definitely come back !
