About this property

Bayside Cottage, a charming former fisherman’s retreat set on a single level, is nestled in the picturesque fishing village of Findhorn, Moray, Scotland. Offering breathtaking views of the sand dunes, bay, and harbour, this idyllic cottage is perfectly situated to witness the Northern Lights under the right conditions and a clear sky. Even if the Aurora Borealis doesn’t make an appearance, you can still enjoy the magic of nature from the comfort of the cottage, watching the occasional appearance of gannets, seals, and dolphins. Bayside Cottage enjoys a wonderful location just moments from Findhorn's beautiful beach, as well as boasting close proximity to pubs, bakeries, delis and craft shops. Bayside View makes for an idyllic dwelling for a family of six or a group of friends looking to explore this fantastic part of Scotland. Step into the heart of the home; a stunning open-plan living space designed for comfort and relaxation. After a day by the sea, sink into the plush sofa and armchairs, perfectly positioned to take in the captivating ocean views framed by large picture windows. Unwind with your favourite TV series, basking in the warmth of the woodburning stove. The well-equipped kitchen awaits your culinary creations, featuring modern appliances like an air fryer and a dishwasher to make both cooking and cleanup effortless. Gather around the dining table set for six, savouring a delicious meal paired with a bottle of wine. A handy utility housing a washing machine and tumble dryer takes care of those longer stays. Wash away the day with a refreshing shower, before popping on fresh pyjamas and catching your rest in one of three well-presented bedrooms, a king-size, a double and a twin, all adorned with TVs for lazy mornings in bed, hairdryers and ample storage for your holiday attire. The king-size bedroom boasts the added convenience of an en-suite shower room, ensuring a private space to freshen up. Enjoy a morning coffee on the front patio, soaking in the fresh sea air. If you're craving more, a short stroll will lead you to Findhorn Beach, where you can explore miles of pristine sand dunes and spot seals and a variety of seabirds. Findhorn Bay is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers and offers opportunities for kayaking, paddleboarding, and observing diverse wildlife. May a visit to the Findhorn Heritage Centre, where you can learn about the village’s fishing history. Why not book a boat trip to spot dolphins, seals, and other marine life? Culbin Forest is a short drive away offering a plethora of walking and cycling trails, with stunning views over the Moray Firth. A little further afield, explore the historic town of Forres, home to intriguing landmarks like Sueno’s Stone, a remarkable Pictish monument, and The Witches’ Stone, steeped in local legend. Venture to the nearby town of Elgin, where history and flavour come together. Here, you can immerse yourself in the renowned Moray Whisky Trail, visiting distilleries such as Benromach, Glen Moray, and Dallas Dhu to enjoy fascinating tours and tastings. For an unforgettable holiday by the sea in Scotland, stay at Bayside Cottage.

Findhorn was at one time a very busy fishing port, and still preserves its strong connections with the sea today, with much of its village life centred around the bay, and fantastic sailing and watersports opportunities available with the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club resting on the waterfront. Its scenic location and gentle climate, influence by the Gulf Stream, make it a desirable destination. It is perhaps best known for being the home to the world-famous Findhorn Foundation, with its Ecovillage and international centre for holistic education. Findhorn boast two pubs, two cafes, an organic bakery and a local store, and is well placed for visiting the many pretty ports and villages nestled along the Moray Firth coastline. The Malt Whisky Trail can be joined close by and the Cairngorm National Park can be found within an hour’s drive. The hub of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is just 25 miles to the west, and is well worth a day trip, where you will discover its historic buildings and atmospheric NT Culloden Battlefield.
