About this property

Alltwen is a charming terraced house boasting harbour views and vistas of the Snowdonia Mountains, situated in the picturesque village of Borth-y-Gest, Gwynedd. With the beach just a short stroll away, this delightful abode is perfect for families or friends seeking a traditional Welsh seaside break. Upon entering the property, you'll be greeted by a spacious kitchen/diner, fully-equipped for all your culinary needs. Here, you can gather around the dining table and enjoy a home-cooked meal, whilst planning the day's adventures. If the weather permits, head outdoors to your own private decking, and indulge in a spot of alfresco dining amidst the occasional bird song. Afterwards, curl up in the snug sitting room, complete with a Smart TV, DVDs, DVD player, and a Nintendo Wii, perfect for entertaining the whole family. An alcove houses a pull-out double bed, offering additional sleeping arrangements for two additional guests if required. The property boasts three well-presented bedrooms; a double room with a TV/DVD player for those lazy mornings in bed, a child’s bunk bedroom, perfect for the younger guests, and an additional double room with an en-suite shower room. This room benefits from a private balcony, creating a breathtaking backdrop that blends the serenity of nature with the charm of coastal life. Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting Portmeirion, a quilt-like tapestry of colours and period architecture. Engage with nature at Borth-y-Gest Beach, a serene haven where you can enjoy the sand between your toes, or connect with the charming residents at Black Rock Llamas. A visit to Morfa Bychan unveils awe-inspiring coastal views to write home about. Adventure lovers shouldn't miss a thrilling ride on the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, transporting you through the breath-taking Snowdonia National Park. Here, you can hike the rugged trails to the summit of Mount Snowdon, explore lush valleys dotted with serene lakes, and uncover the rich cultural heritage of ancient castles and quaint villages. Alternatively, discover more about the area's rich heritage during a visit to the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway and Maritime Museum. Alltwen is your tranquil haven, watching the pastel hues of sunset over the harbour before retreating inside for a relaxing night in.

Borth-y-Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth-y-Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway? For a day trip the entire Llyn Peninsula calls. With Anglesey within reach and the whole North Wales coast with the Wales Coast Path to be explored, Borth-y-Gest has it all: a quiet bolt hole but conveniently located for ease of access to this stunning area, a must at any time of the year.

Very well equipped kitchen and a large walk in shower room on ground floor with really good water pressure. Lounge area, although small, has a really comfortable sofa for relaxing after dinner Terrace and garden area would be amazing in summer but served as a safe enclosed space for our dog during the evening when he needed a loo break. Ability to charge our EV vehicle was a bonus without the faff of finding a public charger and parking although on street was super easy Walks direct from the property to both Portmadog and Criccieth along the coast path are easy accessed after about 2 minutes walk from the property and Watkins Path parking for Snowdon is an easy 20 minute car journey from property. We loved out time at Alltwen and this will be on our list of ideal properties when we return to Snowdonia next year

It provided everything you would need right down to games, DVDs, ect. There was even an outhouse with badminton set, buckets and spades. kitchen was well equipped. I went with my sister and brother in law and my dog for my 70th birthday, my other sister and brother in law sadly couldn't make it due to health issues. We had a lovely weekend and bistro on the front was very welcoming and only a short walk away. Sorry but we missed the recycling as we were not told to put bins out. Thank you for a lovely stay
