The bungalow suited us perfectly and is well situated for walks on the sands and within easy reach of Porthmadog and the surrounding area. Its a pity there was not a full sized vacuum cleaner as we like to leave places we stay clean and tidy. Maybe the bathroom needs a little attention otherwise no complaints. Would definitely like to visit again in the future.

Shortly after we arrived, we were contacted by the property manager, Shaleese, who informed us that the front door would only lock from the inside. She assured us that she was working on a solution and that someone would come out to fix it. While we appreciated her keeping us in the loop, communication after that was a bit delayed and slow. After following up with Sykes Cottages directly, we were told that a repair would happen on Monday evening, but this didn't take place until Tuesday. When the maintenance team arrived, they assessed the door but couldnât fix it immediately, saying they needed to source a part from a local shop in Porthmadog. The following day, we were told that the part wasnât available locally and would need to be ordered online. It was disappointing that the repair took several days, and even after the lock was finally replaced, the door still only locked from the inside and not the outside. As a result, throughout our holiday, we had to keep one person at the property at all times to ensure our belongings were safe, since we couldnât lock the front door from the outside. This definitely limited our ability to fully enjoy our time away as a group, which was unfortunate. That said, I do want to acknowledge that the property itself was lovely. The location in Porthmadog is fantastic â peaceful, scenic, and just what we were looking for in a coastal retreat. The cottage had a lot of potential for a perfect holiday, and itâs clear that when this door issue is resolved, it could be an ideal place to stay. We understand that things like this happen, and it was evident that both the property manager and Sykes were working to try and fix the problem, though itâs just a shame that it couldnât be fully resolved within our two-week stay. Hopefully, future guests wonât have the same issue, and Iâm sure theyâll have a wonderful experience.
