For exceptional hiking and cycling opportunities, venture into the Snowdonia National Park, where you can take on the famous Snowdon Peak and explore underground mines at Zip World Llechwedd. Porthmadog, a thriving port town, is situated in a picture-perfect location on the Glaslyn Estuary. Porthmadog is the starting point for steam trains across the stunning Snowdonia landscape to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Caerforn, and it is also home to a variety of unique shops and eateries. Borth Y Gest, a picturesque village known for its cliffs and bays, is easily accessible on foot or by car from the city. Just along the coast is Portmeirion, a renowned and distinctive Italianate settlement. Portmeirion, made famous as the setting for The Prisoner and the finale of Cold Feet, is a little town perched on a cliff on its own private peninsula, surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woods. As an added bonus, the area is home to the castles of Criccieth and Harlech, as well as beautiful, untouched beaches like Black Rock Sands, which feature stretches of sand that go on for miles. Zip World Slate Caves and Bounce Below are also easily accessible and provide a wide range of activities, from zipping along the underground caverns to jumping around in a giant trampoline. A wonderful base from which to explore Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula.
