What our customers say about their holidays

Car parking was supposed to have been provided.

It turned out that the "allocated space" was over 200 yards from the apartment and it was VERY tight (with a ford fiesta), plus you had to manoeuvre into it from the main road through Boscastle with one side being a blind bend. My husband is very good at parking but having knocked his wing mirror twice, he gave up using the space and used the public car park, which was chargeable from 10 am to 5 pm. To unload our car when we arrived, we were told we could use the double yellows outside the property, but this was taken with another vehicle so we were not able to do so. There was supposed to have been a garden - there wasn't. There was a small courtyard with planters at the front of the property, but this was for access to the whole building. The gate from this courtyard was straight out onto a main road, without pavement, so it was not safe for our daughter. The lounge from the property is partly below the level of the road, so you feel that you are in a basement. Immediately outside the window there was a cafe, so you felt that you needed to have the blind down the whole time to have some privacy. Both bedrooms overlooked the main road so we felt that we had no privacy and had to keep the blinds drawn.

The apartment itself was tiny but ok.

But I would not recommend it for 4 people if they are grownups. I booked it via Booking.com where it was described including free parking near the house. After paying the rent and shortly before our holiday started we received an email from the landlord including key collecting and other information. He recommended using the public car park by purchasing a weekly ticket which is about 36£, otherwise there would be a private parking space for a small car after a few houses down the road. When we entered the flat we found an information folder containing it which was mentioned the space would do for a car not bigger than 2 m in width and 1.95 m in height.

The cottage was excellent in almost every aspect.

It was comfortable and pretty much everything you need is provided. It is right in the centre and there are good places to eat within a 2 minute walk. There is plenty of hot water and a great shower. The wifi is strong and reliable. Only two caveats. First, no parking unless you have a small car. But actually there is a public car park only a two minute walk away which was free from 5pm to 10am and wasn't as expensive as most. Second, the cottage is right on the road and traffic noise early in the morning woke us. But overall it was a great holiday.

This is our second time staying at Hollowell House and again we thought it was fantastic.

It’s a lovely little flat that is decent for 2 adults. It’s very clean and comfortable. It’s right in the heart of Boscastle on the main high street. Bathroom is nice with a decent shower. Wi-Fi is really strong. Kitchen full of everything you need. Both bedrooms have comfy beds and the place gets warm quick with modern electric heaters. Washing machine is handy. Will probably be back yet again as it’s so ideal.

Having stayed in Hollowell house before we knew it was good.

Very clean and very well equipped. It could perhaps do with a little more hanging space for clothes but I do accept that my husband is disabled so we are not able to travel light. Being ground floor is also ideal for us. It was a great pity about the weather being so wet but as we were so central it didn't spoil the fun too much X
