What our customers say about their holidays

Our stay at Skylark was absolutely perfect.

We arrived in the dark after some difficulty in the snow, and found the apartment already heated up and cosy, and the makings of a much-needed cup of tea (including a packet of chocolate biscuits) were provided - the owners had thought of everything. The space was immaculately clean and modern while also having lots of traditional character in the beams and stone walls. The heating and appliances were all easy to use, the kitchen cupboards were well-stocked with every utensil and container you could want, and everything was comfy, from the sofa to the bed linens. The electric fire was lovely for cosy evenings on the sofa. The location was ideal, on the outskirts of the village of Longnor and a short walk to Crowdecote as well as being an easy drive to other nearby villages and walking routes. I can't recommend it enough and hope to visit again one day!

The property wasn’t as clean as advertised.

Vases of fake flowers and bowls of potpourri which were dusty and had seen better days were there, and not sure these types of things are allowed in the current Covid-19 situation? There were cobwebs around, and empty air fresheners in the crockery cupboard that made all the plates smell! We were told before going to the property that we couldn’t get in until 4pm as it would be deep cleaned after each person in compliance with Covid-19 but there was no evidence that the deep clean had taken place. Sofa was extremely uncomfortable and the towels were grey and thin and had seen better days. There was a lot of door slamming from the occupants in the apartment beneath, due we think to the fire door hinge needing adjusting.

First class accommodation, no expenses have been spared, very warm and cosy and so quiet, perfect for us.

Well equipped facilities and very dog friendly which was much appreciated. We particularly enjoyed the underfloor heating, good wifi, the wall mounted TV (well out of dog range!), en-suite bathroom and having plenty of external lights from dusk until dawn. Lots to do locally in Longnor and beyond and stunning scenery from the spacious shared terrace. We will be sure to return in the future, but perhaps to 'Kestrel Cottage' next time with it's own private terrace over-looking the valley, including a second visit to Church Inn at Chelmorton. The owners run the pub there and it is excellent! The best meal by far that we had during our week's stay. Thank you Julie & Justin :)

Lovely little cottage, a real home from home feel.

So we'll equipped- everything you could need! Super lovely and clean, well maintained and fresh. The towels and bath mat could do with replacing as tatty, as could the toilet brush. Shower was lovely, hot and powerful! Not the best nights sleep as the blinds don't keep the light out and thr bedroom was very hot. The matress was comfy but pillows are old and flat so replacing those would elevate ones sleep! All in all, a lovely little cottage - I really am nit picking with the improvements, but if they were sorted it would be an easy 10/10. The biscuits were also greatly appreciated! Many thanks for a lovely stay

This was a amazing holiday away to the peak district.

The cottage was very cosy and we had a amazing stay. The cottage is very close to the owners house however was not disturbed by them. The owners where very friendly and accommodating giving access to BBQs and comfortable outdoor seating overlooking one of the breathtaking views this cottage has to offer. The cottage was a short drive away from a range of many activities that we loved taking advantage of. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and cant wait to come back for another stay here.
