Problems at Walterâs Rest:- 1) Serious smell of cooking oil in the apartment on arrival.
Restaurant below apartment is venting cooking smells upwards through a tube. The smells enter the Childrenâs Bedroom through a sash window. The window can be moved to close it, but sash lock not working, so window falls down, so it is open all the time. 2) Sash window in living room can be pushed closed, but sash lock broken. This window is large, & drops down by approx 12 inches, & it cannot be closed. Cold can enter the room, gusts of wind, noise from below & seagull noise. 3) Sash window in bedroom can be pushed closed, but lock faulty. Window falls down. 4) Expelair extractor fan not working in bathroom. 5) Shower head faulty. It should be possible to adjust it to spray on the person having the shower. It sprays on the wall instead. 6) Toilet seat is continually moving when it is in use. The seat should be glued to the toilet pan, using bathroom sealant. 7) Serious difficulty in making the front door key open the door. The lock is very dry, & only needs oiling or addition of WD40 to fix it. This is a repeat complaint. 8) When unloading the car, or leaving the property at the end of stay, it is not possible to park legally in Raleigh Street. The description should say the car needs to be parked in a nearby road.

A gem of a find, the stairs were more than I thought, but was worth lugging the cases down to the most amazing view. The cottage was spotlessly clean and was just the most perfect location, 5 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. We used the car park suggested with the permit, and didn’t have a problem parking and getting a space, might be an issue in the school holidays. But all in all we had the most wonderful time, would definitely recommend this place to stay unless you had mobility issues, certainly helps to work off all those crab sandwiches, and Devon cream teas going up and down the steps. And I highly recommend the castle hotel pub for food, it was a real surprise how nice their food was in there, we went 3 times it was that good. Another little tip is to get the little boat to the castle, £3 per person each way, and spot the mermaid on the way. Thank you for a perfect staycation, we are already wishing we was back there.

Good apartment, good location, comfortable.
Only issues were that there were no instructions to be found anywhere at all for the large appliances ie cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, so we had to guess what setting did what. Ironically the only instructions we could find were for the toaster, which is the one appliance for which you could do without instructions. Also, there were no black bags to be found for leaving the bedding and towels in at the end of the stay as requested, so we folded these and left them on the bed; on day one we had to buy our own roll of kitchen towel as was none although there was a holder for the same; the one small thin square of J-cloth issued for the week was not helpful; the two dishwasher tablets supplied were never going to last a week so we bought some of those too. These are all relatively small and easily rectified issues which if addressed would make the apartment five stars rather than four. Generally, a very good week was had, thank you.

This property is in a great location, less than a minute walk to the embankment and town centre in Dartmouth. On arrival we were able to stop outside and unload then park the car a few minutes walk away on a residential street (parking is notoriously bad in Dartmouth, particularly on Regatta week when we stayed). The property was exceptionally clean and spacious and very well appointed. The bedrooms are at the back and hence very quiet, great shower. We took our dog (and dog crate) and there was plenty of room to set up the crate. There is no outside space but for our purposes and with a dog it suited us perfectly as the town centre location means everything is easily accessible including a park in which to take the dog. Beautiful walks to the Castle and Kingswear via the ferry meant the dog could be off-lead. I would highly recommend this property if you are keen to get out and about. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

We both walked into the flat on the first afternoon & both said WOW at the beautiful view from the bay window, it was & is THE most amazing viewpoint weâve had whilst on holiday in Dartmouth & weâve been a few times now.
The flat was lovely, the bed comfortable, kitchen well equipped & the table & chairs in front of the window is perfect for eating dinner at. The only downside was the cleanliness, the kitchen worktop was really âstickyâ & there was a smear of food (?) on the surface near the sink so I had to wipe it all down with antibacterial wipes, the inside roof of the microwave was/is filthyâ¦I didnt see why we should clean it as we didnât use it or intend using it especially after seeing how mucky it was (bits of what looked like cheese/tomato etc stuck/hanging from the inside. Both sofas have big watermarks/stains on the seat cushions & there are marks/stains on the sides & back/top of the sofa, they need an good upholstery clean to get rid of all of the stains. Plus there are scuffs, marks & stains on the walls, one on the wall in the hallway near the bathroom & a few on the side wall in the bedroom near the window.
