What our customers say about their holidays

    • Teresa - Verified booking

This is the worst property we have stayed in over the 8 years of using sykes.

Be prepared to take cleaning clothes, loo roll, washing up liquid and mop as the owners don't provide them. The hoover wasn't emptied and the steam cleaner and type of long handle duster thing was dirty and disgusting so had to go out and buy cleaning items. No surfaces in living room, bedroom have been dusted in weeks in fact this place wants a deep clean especially in corners of rooms where dirt and debris collected. In the bedroom there was a disgusting damp stained dog bed which needs to go in bin. Cobwebs with spiders in all rooms and very musky damp smell about the place. A lovely welcome pack of wine, cheese, butter, bread and milk was left but I think that money would have been better spent on starter pack of 1 loo roll as there was none, cleaning clothes and wash liquid. There isn't even a frying pan or oven trays to cook anything on. There was a roasting tray so we did everything on that. This apartment is situated in a lovely place and great for town and beach and accessible to great North wales days out. Also why is the apartment above have its doorbell connected to this apartment....very annoying and loud. We spent 3 days speaking and emailing photos to sykes who did absolutely nothing except contact owners who offered a reclean which I refused as we didn't want anyone in there with all our possessions and this should be clean b4 we got there. Owners said no compensation which we never asked for anyway. We won't be back. Very disappointed with lack of care from owners and sykes.

We left the property in as good a state as possible.

However, this was limited greatly by the lack of cleaning tools here e.g., no dustpan/ brush, cleaning cloths etc. There is only a small vacuum and a few J cloths which we used to make sure sand etc. removed from the floor areas and surfaces are clean. A couple of points to note: the general cleaning regime here is not that great. On arrival, the bathroom wasn’t pristine, previous occupants hair stuck to tiling and beside the bath (neither of us has longish red hair) & skirting needing a deep clean. Area under the sofa bed had not been cleaned - seems that the sofa not pulled out to clean beneath. Washing machine intermittently showing a fault code F08, so used very little. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. I had to use sofa bed and no separate linen for that. Only one set of towels to last a week for each of us, one toilet roll and one spare bin liner. Modestly shrouding (net curtain, perhaps) needed at bedroom window as occupants in flat behind frequently passing by. Welcome gift of Prosecco and chocolates very welcome but milk would have been useful. Plentiful tea/ coffee/ sugar, though. Great that there’s a dishwasher and shower is powerful! There is an iron, which isn’t listed but very useful nonetheless. Flat is well located for beaches and walks, decent range of crockery and glasses and, for its size pretty comfortable.

This is a lovely apartment that is very close to the beach and a short walk into the centre of Criccieth.

It's the second time we have visited and stayed here and we have always manged to park close to the property. We had lovely weather in July so were able to go to the beach to swim and have a picnic most days and it was great to be able to walk back to the apartment as it was so close. As expected, the weather was mixed in October but we were able to do lots of walking along the coastal path and in the local area. On the evenings when we didn't cook we ate out locally and can highly recommend Poachers restaurant on the High Street (delicious food, but you need to book well in advance as it is very popular), Castle Fish and Chip shop (short walk from the apartment, take away only, the queue can be very long but it's worth it for great fish and chips), The Prince of Wales, cosy pub on the High Street (hearty pub grub, big portions and great beer). We also visited Dylans which is in a lovely building overlooking the sea. In the summer we had drinks on the decking by the beach which felt like being abroad. We also ate at the restaurant and although we quite enjoyed the meal we thought it was pricy for what it was. You need to book well in advance to eat in the evening but it was easier to get a late lunchtime (4.45) booking. We really enjoyed both our stays in Criccieth so hope to be back next year.

Lovely place, everything you need for a short or longer break.

Nice welcome pack. Well equipped but an iron and and a hairdryer would be great to add. Fantastic well maintained patio and a garden. Few downsides. As apart of a bigger property we had the ground floor and further two floors were occupied by other people. You could hear every noise especially the little boy running up and down from 7:30 every morning. Not ideal if you come to catch up with a sleep. The parking space on the back where our entrance was I thought was just for us, but our neighbours had two cars so they parked one on the front and the other in our space. That was causing problem getting to and from the car as the space wasn't quite big enough for two cars. Confusion with the waste collection. The rubbish has been cancelled every three weeks. We didn't know if that was the right week. The bin was full. We took it down the hill to the main road (quite a journey) just to find out that the general wast was collected last week, so we had to bring the full bin back. Visitors should be given the exact dates when the collection is actually happening. Overall our dogs and we had a lovely time.

The flat was better than expected.

We had everything we needed in the kitchen area, with plenty of crockery/cutlery to use in the dishwasher. The lounge area has new furniture/carpeting, not reflected in the pictures and is more modern. The double bed was very comfortable, with ample storage for a week in the wardrobe/drawers. When we arrived the flat was impeccably clean, the cleaning lady is a credit to the owners! The only tiny, tiny thing I would have liked, would be a coat hook. As we did a lot of walking, we had wet coats and there is nowhere to hang them. Location is excellent, when eating at the table on the right hand side you have a full sea view, which is great when eating breakfast! Criccieth is only a short walk away and parking was not an issue. Whilst we were there the owners were carrying out all the necessary H&S checks and fire alarm/detector tests, which is reassuring to know that they are fully regulation complaint. In summary, this is a great flat, in a great location, and is well serviced.
