What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kane - Verified booking

Apologies for lateness in leaving this feedback - has been a busy couple of weeks since returning to the toddler.

First and foremost we wanted to thank you for our stay at The Hen House which we thoroughly enjoyed even if only for 2 nights. We were impressed by the quality of the design of The Hen House, the interior, electronics and setup with manual and the amazing wood fired hot tub! All of this added to a really enjoyable getaway which we have already recommended to others and will continue to do so. We'd very much like to book another stay at The Hen House in the near future! As the stay was pretty much all positive, there isn't that much to say around negatives or improvements but I will mention a few things for feedback: As we don't drink alcohol the gift bottle of wine was sort of wasted on us as a gift. We've stayed at similar small getaways and, on top of alcohol, a local delicacy - smoked fish, eggs or something of the sort is usually given as a welcome. This would have been a super touch! Permaculture Design could be applied to the courtyard to make it more lush and interactive and could easily house hens within the courtyard area. Organic grow spaces could be made amongst the large gravel area. Trees in courtyard need a good pruning. The Smeg coffee machine was great to use.  Bringing this into focus a bit more with extra brew making kit and organic milk would be fantastic. Mattress could be firmer to provide extra support and possibly less pillows. It's difficult to get to sleep first few nights when staying away somewhere if the mattress is too soft and sinks. Overall this is a 5 star piece of well crafted and finished accommodation. It's nicely thought out and has a really homely feel to it. Great travelling distance to Inverness and rest highlands. Highly recommend!

What a fantastic cottage this is and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

It was like a wee fairytale cottage, lovely and cozy, spotlessly clean and had everything you would need for your visit. I absolutely loved the bed with the amazing wood panel on the headboard and the amazing gates/doors at the bottom. The large mirror looked beautiful too. The only one thing I did not like so much were the seats. I did not find them very comfortable. The appliances were amazing and they have thought of everything you might need. The garden was lovely with 2 beautiful pagodas. One with seats and a table and one with an amazing hot tub. It is wood fired and the first time we used it my husband tried to cook me !! Next time he got the hang of it better :-) Even the fencing around this cottage was beautiful Chinese / Japanese style. As you can guess this was right up my street and I loved every minute of being there. We had lovely walks around the estate as well so it was a very relaxing stay. Thank you xx

Little chestnut is truly an outstanding property, a ‘W O W ‘house ,every home comfort you need, with few extra features.

The Hot tub so lovely to relax in & a comfortable bed to sleep in at end of day’s sightseeing. Cleanliness second to none!!! On arrival we were greeted by Ken, a very warm friendly man, unfortunately we didn’t meet Theresa , but did communicate before our holiday, which was very helpful & informative, recommended few places to see & as everything went smoothly in the house we didn’t need to bother them. We were left a lovely welcome pack which was appreciated. The garden was beautiful, pity it wasn’t summertime as I’m sure it’ll be a lovely garden to relax in! Our first visit to Scotland, absolutely stunningly beautiful country with gorgeous scenery, very friendly people, loved it , thinking of visiting ? then I’d highly suggest you book ‘little chestnut’ you won’t be disappointed.

More than expected this cottage was brilliant with everything that we needed and much more The leisure suite was lovely so much thought has been put into this.

Little Chestnut is immaculate and spacious. Everything is quality , even the crockery , pots and pans etc was of a really high standard. Muir of Ord is a great base for exploring the highlands and my husband enjoyed the nearby golf course and we all had a great time on a boat trip on Loch Ness .We went to book for next year but we just can’t afford the jump in price. Which is such a shame but understandable with the current situation .This year we paid £838.00 including booking fee, but the same week next year it will be £1369.00 which is just to much of a jump for us. We loved this place and are sad we wont be able to return because of how the price has jumped for all weeks. Otherwise we would have no hesitation in booking this property again

Wow, an amazing property, with everything you need for a brilliant self catering stay.

Ken was present on our arrival, and clearly explained the instructions of the hot tub, sauna and bbq hut. The house was very spacious, and extremely clean with quality furniture making it the most comfortable place we have ever stayed in. The downstairs shower was awesome. Hot tub and sauna were used daily, providing much needed relaxation after a busy day. The outside area was very private and well maintained. We made use of the bbq hut a couple of afternoons and enjoyed dining outside, We have stayed in quite a few holiday homes, and Little Chestnut is now our number 1. Thank you Ken and Theresa for a wonderful stay, and we will be back at some point. Graeme and Paula
