What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sarah - Verified booking

The old police house was a great place it was very clean, tidy and in a great location.

The beds were very comfortable. There was more than enough cutlery, and dinnerware for all the family there were even kids cutlery and dinnerware. The notice board was great as gave us useful information so did the handbook that was left but really needed updating and it was contradicting what was on the notice board. The outdoor toilet is great addition.there was a cupboard full of games most were old but still fun to play. The only downside to the property was the lack of door handles, out of the three bedroom doors upstairs only one room had a door handle making if difficult for privacy. One of the bedrooms was also missing a blind so got a lot of light coming into the room in the morning. There were no instructions for the washer/dryer so had to Google them. There were pegs in the property but no clothes lines so this made it difficult to dry clothes when the weather outside was wet. The stairs in the property are steep and could really do with a handrail all the was down. The stairs in the back garden are also very steep and narrow but when you make it up on to the decking it is very lovely and big area for all the family to set out and enjoy. Overall this was a great property I would definitely stay at this property again.

The property was very nice - just a few thoughts. On the plus side, we had a lovely stay and enjoyed our time in the property. So the comments below are not intended to suggest that we didn't enjoy ourselves. All but one of the beds was very comfortable and the showers were good. Very handy to have a ground floor bathroom with shower. But, it was very hard to find as sat nav took you to the wrong place. Also, there are no photographs of the front of the property on the website. Not only did this make it hard to find but also obscured the fact that the property is directly on the road so quite noisy at times. There weren't enough kitchen chairs for all of the occupants to sit at the kitchen table nor really enough space in the living room for all 7 of us to sit comfortably. No shampoo in the bathrooms. There were DVDs but no DVD player. Could use a few more bowls in the kitchen. There was a lot of noise heard through the wall of the adjoining property which made it difficult for some of us to sleep. We had brought a jigsaw puzzle with us but there was nowhere to place it.

Issue reported to Sykes when we arrived.

TV was broken. No action was taken during our stay. Overall the property was lovely but a few things let it down. The toilet seat in the main bathroom was broken, we all have bruises on our legs from it. There was a lack of towels for 6 people staying. No welcome pack in the kitchen, had to go and buy tea towels, washing up liquid etc… Window in the sitting room did not close properly allowing draft and lots of noise into the room! Rubbish collections were complicated and was not taken due to rubbish not being placed into black bags which again had not been provided. Cottage is in a great location and could be an amazing place to stay with a few little touches, kitchen was well equipped but some instructions for the appliances wouldn’t go amiss and beds and sofas were comfortable.

The house is in a great location but has clearly been unloved for some time.

The house is dirty with dead insects and general dirt all around the house even when allowing for its age the furniture is also old and the double bed is of poor quality. The bedding is also poor and needs updating due to age. Pillows are awful. The facilities are good i.e. dish washer, washing machine etc and outside toilet cleaner than inside toilet. overall an alright house but could be a lovely house. Parking an issue, but we knew that when we booked, The house needs a deep clean, I would suggest no one has rented this property for sometime and you can tell. I also requested three single beds via the email address supplied, no reply and the beds were not correct i.e. a double and single not three singles like I requested and advertised if needed.

The Cottage fitted the brief very well; a family gathering for a wedding at Ash Barton. So we ranged from fourteen months old to grandparents and we all fitted in well and slept well! It was a home from home and didn’t feel cramped at all. I was worried about the stairs for the little ones but they just weren’t a problem. The appliances were all in good condition and worked well so that helped to make it a relaxing stay. We used Braunton Taxi for runs to and from the wedding which was over three days and again this worked well. We can also recommend the circular walk from Braunton Burrows car park to Saunton Sands and back along the Tarka Trail. Lunch at the Beachside Grill was a highlight of the walk and repeated several times!
