What our customers say about their holidays

    • Anne - Verified booking

The cottage was attractive and in the quiet rural seaside village of Flamborough which is well placed for the Yorkshire Coast and particularly for bird watching and enjoying Bridlington and Filey.

It was very warm and cosy, it accepted 3 dogs and provided bowls, covers and bedding, and treats! However there were a few glitches. The key code we were given in all communications before the day we arrived was wrong and we could not get in until we'd negotiated contact with the managers. An email correcting the number had been sent that afternoon, but arrived just before we did, having driven for 3 hours, so we didn't see it until later. There was no tea towel or oven glove but we found one in the laundry room. There was nowhere to hang towels or clothes in the shower room (this could be remedied with a couple of cheap 'over the door' hooks and a radiator rack). There was no enclosed garden (we knew this) but the patio area was actually the gravel drive outside all the cottages where cars were coming and going (and on the morning we left, where the biomass delivery lorry was parked from 8am until 10am - the driver apologized for the noise and blocking access but it was difficult to load the car and very noisy for the other people who weren't leaving with that timing.) We only found the actual open garden where dogs can be walked the second day - it is tucked away behind hedges - a sign or two indicating where it is would help. There was no visitor book - these are helpful for things like knowing to switch the router off and on again when the internet fails if other people experience this, and getting to the garden area, as well as other handy bits of information about the area.

We stayed at Beacon Heights for 1 week during October.

We were lucky to have nice weather for the majority of the stay and the annex/cottage was very well maintained, equipped and in a lovely position to take advantage of the local area. The bifold windows on each floor provided lovely views and the sun shone through when it was sunny, which also heated the property up. It is just a 2 minute walk to the coastline where there are public footpaths to enjoy the coast and beaches. The cottage is quiet, situated at the end of a small village so ideal for a little break away from everything, but only a short drive to close by towns. Copperfields cafe in the local village is a must go to for both breakfast and lunch. Although during our stay the owners were also on holiday themselves, they ensured everything would be clean and set up for us, keeping in contact to make sure we got in safe and were happy, along with leaving contacts in case we needed any help whilst we were there. They returned just before we left and both Cath and Nick were lovely and welcoming. We would like to thank them for their hospitality and would definitely stay again. Many thanks, Alex and Alex

For me this was a cottage of two halves, the location was good, the area was quiet and the cottage was comfortable.

However I fou d the cleanliness and overall appearance of the inside was not what I expected on sitting at the dining table we noticed a bog scratch a roos the top of it, you could say general wear and tear but not good, the flooring in the main kitchen, living area was lifted in placed thus causing a trip hazard for my husband who has balance problems and the walls in various places had marks on them. We were left instructions not to stop the bed which is fine and to leave any towels we had not used to one side to help the cleaners with the environment, does this mean they were to be left out for the next people? I would have touched them so hope that is not the case. Overall the cleanliness for me left a lot to be desired for the money paid.

The cottage was very well kept and in a good location.

Easy to get to a from several location. We visited Daynes Dyke for the first time, which was a few minutes drive and we really enjoyed it. Was a nice sized garden out back and our three pooches enjoyed that. We went on some nice walks and enjoyed Flamborough, it was nice to be so close. We had absolutely no troubles with the booking or stay. Furniture is not very comfortable to lounge and watch TV in the evening and the mattress on the bed was quite hard. Furnishing looks really nice though. Regardless we would definitely stay again. Very nice, quiet and well kept cottage. Couldn't figure out how to turn the heating off, bedroom was very warm, tried ringing with no answer so just opened the window.

We spent a wonderful week at Beacon Heights.

Even though Flamborough Head was exceptionally windy the property was warm and cosy and had everything we needed. The view across the fields was a real bonus and in the evenings we were able to watch skeins of geese flying overhead. Beacon Heights is within easy reach of all the nature reserves and bird watching sites so we had an exciting time seeing many birds we would not normally be able to spot. We thoroughly recommend Yorkshire Water’s Top Hill Low nature reserve which about 40 minutes drive away south of Driffield. We also heartily recommend Scrumdiddlyumptious Cafe in Flamborough who serve delicious home made food.
