What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

The location was idyllic in the country.

Reminded me of my life as a child. Ground floor a little claustrophobic but comfortable. The stone floor could do with a deep clean. The bedrooms and bathroom were nice and cosy. The only gripe about the bathroom is the floor again could do with a deep clean. The property is well furnished and well equipped. We feel that the water temperature from the ‘hot’ taps are scalding and could injure a child. The attached barns have some lovely wildlife. An Owl box in one barn and swallows in nests in another. Our dog and I saw the Barn Owl at 6.30am sat on a fence post only yards away in the lovely Orchard. It then flew off to a nearby tree. That Owl, the swallows and a Wren telling off our dog made the short break. Will definitely use Sykes again. Note: Please notify owner re Hot Water and deep cleaning of stone floor and bathroom floor. That said it was a lovely break away

This was a last minute booking due to our early holiday this year spoilt by the British weather.

So saw this cottage with just the week we needed ideal. The directions we received to find the cottage were spot on. The cottage has everything you need for a perfect holiday .Edward and his wife had left us a lovely cream tea and a bottle of local wine .This was our first visit to this part of Cornwall its close to the likes of padstow and rock we even went to look for doc martin in port issac. Then there,s Bodmin,St Austall and we even got to Falmouth.Bodmin for all your main supermarkets just 5 miles away. The town of lostwithiel just down the hill with old world charm and a butchers with blackpuddings to die for even if it did come all the way from the north of Scotland.I found this cottage to be a jem trouble is now by telling everyone how good it was come next year booked up ,never mind it was well worth the long drive

We had a very enjoyable holiday at Quay House.

The property is located in a quite area of Charlestown, though still close to the main facilities on offer. On arrival we were provided with a very nice welcome pack. There is plenty of space to relax after a busy day. The kitchen had everything you would require on holiday, even the Aga was easy to use. The bedrooms were also spacious and comfy. Restaurants we recommend are Rebellion (just opposite the property), Pier House and The Boathouse all provided a very good choice of meals. We had plenty of walks along the South West Coast Path, which is easily accessible from the house. Places we enjoyed were Fowey, Mevagissey, Bodmin Jail. We were very disappointed with The Lost Gardens of Heligan, very expensive entry fee for what was on offer. We would definitely stay again at Quay House and highly recommended it.

A lovely well equipped cottage in an amazing location and generous welcome pack.

The beds were lovely and extremely comfortable. The only slight issue we had was there were no instructions to operate the heating. When ‘rads’ switch is turned on on the timer in the kitchen they cannot be controlled by the room thermostat on the landing. When small bed radiator is turned completely off it still gets very hot. In order to the turn the upstairs radiators off you have to turn all the individual underfloor timers off in each ground floor room. And the Underfloor heating doesn’t work in the lounge. We didn’t contract the owner as we used a process of illumination as my brother in law is a heating engineer, however I think this needs attention. We were unable to work out how to get the terrestrial channels on the tv but this was not an issue but instructions would be useful.

Beautiful cottage, connected to another rental piece of the barn, in a stunning location.

Warm welcome with scones etc, milk, fresh flowers and WINE in the fridge! How welcoming! The sofa is terrible, should really be changed to something more comfortable, this one left us with back-ache..... even though we put all the extra pillows in it to make it a bit better. The bed was something we worried about when we first lied on it... But in the end we slept well in it! And it is HUGE!! Nevertheless, in my opinion (and reading reviews from months ago I wasn't the only one) it is time to renew it. It squiks, you feel the mattress springs and it feels as if you roll out of the bed. We saw the owner only twice short, which is fine, but gave me no change to tell him this, so I wrote it in the questbook.
