What our customers say about their holidays

    • Anon - Verified booking

Well what can we say. Another lockdown and we thankfully managed to escape to the Bramble lodge on the first day of lockdown easing, so our hopes were high. To say we were blown away was an understatement. The lodge itself was breath taking. Beautifully designed, open, full of light and spacious. The eco touches were such a wonderful touch and being new to eco heating solutions we were impressed by the consistent and comfortable temperature at all times. Great spec and appliances thought and imaginative and effective use of zone lighting. We used the lodge as our base for coastal path walking and managed nearly 50 miles over our 4 night stay. This was only made possible by the incredible wood fired hot tub which rejeuvinated us each evening in preparation for the next trek. A lovely touch that our hosts took the trouble to light the hot tub ready for our arrival and the unexpected delivery of a class bottle of local chardonnay and chocolates was the icing on the cake. To top it all off was the view which was breathtaking! An uninterrupted view of the Dorset countryside in every direction which we enjoyed every evening until the sun set, seeing deer, foxes and many, many pheasants. To top it all off the cost of this trip was reasonable to say the least. We would expect to pay double the price in Cornwall and would not expect the same standard of care and attention that we received. A wonderful location, property, host and experience. We will be back and will be recommending. Lockdown has been so very hard and we wish this enterprise every success now they are back up and running. A huge thank you from us for a most wonderful and memorable stay.

We came to The Stable House with friends for the weekend and had a really enjoyable stay.

The house is very comfortable with beautifully decorated bedrooms and lovely homely touches. The hot tub was lovely and warm when we arrived and we enjoyed using it in the evenings especially with the outside lights overhead, however both evenings it was windy and did start raining which cooled it down somewhat! The beds were extremely comfortable and the pool table in the lounge was great. My only criticisms would be that for a property that sleeps 8 there was only one small stand up shower cubicle downstairs. There is a huge bathroom upstairs and the roll top bath was beautiful, but not especially practical for that many people (we did run out of hot water on a couple of occasions, especially when we all wanted to shower/bathe after the hot tub). Also, due to the layout of the 4th bedroom, there was no option to be able to push the twins beds together to make a double, which would have been nice as there were 4 couples staying. Despite this, it was a lovely property and I would consider staying again.

We stayed as a group of extended family for the weekend to celebrate a big birthday.

The cottage was lovely and clean. It has recently been refurbished, so had a new kitchen and an extra ensuite shower room. The hot tub is close to the back door and in a secluded area with easy access to the downstairs shower. All the little extras are really appreciated; milk, orange juice, cake, flowers, local honey and dog biscuits. Our dogs loved running round the back garden then falling asleep in front of the log fire. Everyone enjoyed using the pool table and there were plenty of squishy sofas to relax on. It really feels like a home from home. We had a slight problem finding the place. We had put the Stable House Mudford into Google maps and it took us to a pair of cottages down the road. We realised this wasn't the right place after pulling into someone else's drive. On Google maps Evans and Pearce Mudford takes you to the correct location. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will probably book again in the future.

We had just the best family time together celebrating 3 milestone Birthdays.

The house is so spacious, has comfortable beds, is tastefully decorated, very clean, has everything you need and great facilities in terms of oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, washing machine, a line to dry the clothes on and even clothes pegs :). Nice personal touches with local biscuits, honey, juice and milk to welcome us, even doggie treats for the pets! We all enjoyed the pool table and table football and not a day passed where neither were not used! The garden is a real treat for humans and doggies alike. The hot tub a wonderful bonus. We are thinking of returning again one day we enjoyed it all so much and it worked well for us as a group of parents, grown up children, a grandchild and 2 dogs. The only added extra which might help future guests is some plastic glasses/flutes for outside. Highly recommend The Stable House.

The cottage was beautiful and spacious with really comfortable furniture.

Everyone commented on the size and comfort of the beds! The HOT TUB was to die for and got a lot of use. It was kept in tip top condition all week. Really nice and appreciated touches were the coffee beans and grinder, the dog biscuits and the welcome pack. The garden was large and very usable with shade provided by a large cherry tree complete with edible cherries. There was enough room for everybody to have their own space but still interact when wanted. Although there is a rather small shower cubicle downstairs, there really needs to be a large family shower in the main bathroom. This did not detract from the great time we had. Sarah (the host), was so kind and thoughtful and went out of her way to be helpful. Overall a great holiday cottage that we will certainly look to use again. Thank you Sarah.
