    Mablethorpe Holiday Cottages

The celebrated seaside town of Mablethorpe is one of the UK’s favourite holiday hotspots. In fact, Snaptrip lists holiday cottages in Mablethorpe as among its most popular. Known for its holiday camps, cheery demeanour and miles of award-winning sandy beaches, the town is a great family holiday destination and a private cottage makes for a practical self-catering option that avoids the crowds.

Mablethorpe’s traditional seaside promenade remains celebrated around the world as a staple of British tradition and is full of colourful beach huts, traditional Victorian camera obscura and quirky places to eat, drink and shop. The Jabba Beach Hut has been recreated on the seafront and remains a favourite place for photos with visitors (although it’s technically version 2.0 after the first didn’t quite stand up to the sea air as desired), and the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary makes for a unique day out spotting seals, primates, reptiles and birds.

Snaptrip promises unbeatable value on every booking made with our best price guarantee, which covers all thousands of properties on our site. You can filter searches by feature too, so you’re sure to find the perfect place for your staycation getaway. If you need a helping hand, our friendly customer service team are available on the phone until 9:30pm daily.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Kirsten - Verified booking

The photos of the property on Sykes Cottages site make it appear larger than it is.

There was a sharp broken tile in the kitchen, a door off its hinges up stairs which was just left leaning against the wall, loose bath panel, poorly repaired sofas which looked horrible, the wheelie bins were full upon our arrival meaning we had nowhere to dispose of rubbish, the chairs at the dining table were in a poor state, there were not 2 washing machines - 1 was a tumble dryer which is actually better, the property was full of left food from previous tenants in the cupboards and fridge, the washing machine had lots of hair in it, I got trapped in the side porch as there is no handle on the inside, the fan in the twin room was thick with dust, female sanitary items were left in the bathroom cabinet, the bottom of the fireplace was hanging off, dog food left in a cupboard, medication left in the kitchen drawer along with syringes (without needles). There was a torn sheet on one of the single beds. I had to wash some of the plates before I could use them as they were dirty, the frying pan was sticky with grease and still had remnants of oil in it. One of the security lights outside lit up the downstairs double bedroom making it difficult to sleep, there was the same problem upstairs in the balcony room as there was no curtain at the window. The hand rail on the steps outside was too big to grip and the rail the other side of the gate couldn't be used as it was all splintered. It was surprising that dogs were not allowed on the furniture as it was all already damaged. All in all, the property was not at the standard the photographs showed, in fact some of it was incredibly dangerous, I feel that I have paid far too much for the stay there and would welcome a partial refund. The property was very clean and comfortable but I will not go again.

This cottage is ideally placed for exploring the Lincolnshire coast.

It is very close to the centre of Mablethorpe and provided enough parking for two vehicles. The Sykes listing says that the bedrooms have sloping ceilings. This is true. What they fail to mention, possibly deliberately, is that anyone over 5' 6" tall has to duck down to get through any doorway in the house. The ceiling on the upstairs landing varies between approx 4' 6" and 5' 6" and this headroom continues to the far wall of the front bedroom. I am 5' 11" tall and despite being very careful I caught my head on two door frames. Worse than that I tripped going into the back bedroom as I was concentrating on avoiding the low ceiling on the landing. I staggered sideways and took the skin off my elbow as I crashed into the left hand wall. I hope I am wrong but it would appear to me that the height restrictions are not mentioned by Sykes in case potential customers are put off. This though would surely make you negligent if a serious accident occurs? The bed was comfortable. The sofa was seriously uncomfortable. The kitchen is basically equipped. We bumped into the owner of the cottage on the second day of our stay. We mentioned we couldn't find any oven gloves. He thanked us for mentioning it and said he would get some. They hadn't arrived by when we left at the end of the week. Our previous experience with a Sykes cottage was completely different. Probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. I tried to contact Sykes the week before our stay. The website advised that by phone would be best. I could not get through. I am sorry this review is so negative but the accommodation was poor compared to dozens of other holiday cottages we have stayed in.

We booked a last minute stay at Gordona as we took our elderly Mum for a summer break whilst the weather was good.

It suited her needs and she really enjoyed the stay. The positives for us were that it was all ground level other than one step from bedroom to lounge area. The bedrooms were spacious and beds comfortable and the shower was good. It was very peaceful so we had a good nights sleep. We were in a motorhome and were able to park immediately outside the property and so get any extras from there. We were only a short drive from the car park adjacent to the beach and mini railway. There was a great fish and chip shop a few minutes away and a good chinese delivery in the town. We booked the property on the day of arrival and the property owner was accommodating and responded to any queries we had about wifi, bins etc. Could be better: I acknowledge some of the other reviews e.g. in terms of the accuracy of the listing I would not call it 'sleek' or 'fantastic' as it only had basic equipment, but we were fortunate in that we could bring in any extras and home comforts from our motorhome such as candles and cushions and even a small fold up coffee table. The track to the property was off putting as we arrived with scrap wood on the side of the track (and what looked like a scrapyard) but it really didn't affect our stay as it was very quiet whilst we were there and the people were friendly. Yes the garden could benefit from weeding and TLC (and the property owner did apologise for that), however the patio doors were large and we kept cool in the very warm weather.

I have already written to you.

We arrived on Friday 3rd to find stinking overflowing rubbish bins next to the front door of Oar Cottage. On Friday night I had to move my car so that a drains person could open the drains - the next door property, also owned by Ganesh, had stinking drains and sinks. I took photos of the bins, and raised this with Ganesh, the owner, who was on holiday with his family in Fort William Scotland, and did respond immediately, saying he was new to holiday lets. I also wrote to you with photos. You responded but minimally. The bins were not cleared until Wednesday; we left on Friday. The cottage was not in the state claimed in the welcome email, and Ganesh said this was the fault of the cleaner. There were large dirty mats in the washing maching, and Ganesh could not explain why these were in the machine. I sent a photo to him and to you. Probably the cleaner again! Your response was minimal. All that said, the cottage is a good conversion (we met the builder who took away some of the rubbish bags) and very well located. Despite the unpleasant and unsanitary smells and sights, and the surprises in the cottage for example the state on arrival and mats in the washing machine.

The property is located perfectly in a quiet road near to the beach and Queens Park and is a short walk away from pubs, shops and attractions, so no complaints there.

However the cleanliness left a little to be desired. We found dirty cups and cutlery in the kitchen cupboards, the tea towel was stained, the bedding is cheap and the duvet covers had not been fastened and a snail had took residence in the lounge! The settee is comfortable but well worn. Don't expect any frills! Coffee and sugar had gone solid in the containers, salt and pepper pots were empty and the 2 sachets of vinegar were out of date! No cleaning products...even had to go out and buy dish cloths (which probably explains the dirty cups we found). Managed to get used to ducking my head as the week went on after banging my head a few times on the low ceilings and doorways. All that said, the cottage is cosy and has character and we wouldn't rule out staying there again, but would have been disappointed if we'd paid the full price.
