Just spent a long weekend Friday to Monday in Bosuns Cottage (End Sept 2014). Really lovely character cottage, very well equipped and in a fantastic location for us, just five minute gentle walk to the harbour. Brilliant shower, which we did not have any issues with at all and it was used every day of our stay, dishwasher and washing machine were used too and they both worked well. We even had to put the heating on for a couple of the days as it went a little chilli in the evening but that was easy to operate and worked a treat! The only two negatives about this cottage was that the cane furniture in the sitting room was not too comfortable but as we were only there the weekend it was not too much of an issue for us but if i was there for longer i would have preferred a more comfortable sofa. Finally, it's a very old cottage we appreciate that but there were signs of damp on the walls in the kitchen and dining room. Again it didn't bother us too much but we were just very concious of our dog brushing up against it as the paint had bubbled and burst and had he of touched it with his body or tail, the paint and plaster underneath would have fallen to the floor. Don't get me wrong, the cottage was not wriggled with damp throughout. It was just two or thee small patches in a small area and it would not stop us staying there again. The car parking ticket that came with this property was worth it's weight in gold and i think we used it in almost every car park we could especially the one two minutes walk round the corner from the cottage.

Spent a weekend in this house in Torquay. House was comfortable (beds/duvets and pillows were great), warm and clean but facilities basic. Took us a while to work out how to get TV and DVD player to work without instructions. Internet did not connect for us either. Hired bed linen which was clean but left in bag for us to put on beds ourselves. We did not spend much time in the house as we were out all day and ate out at night so kitchen was adequate for us, but if a family was staying for a week and wanted to cook then the fridge was very small. Luckily I know Torquay well as it wasn't the easiest place to find but once in car and moving it was within 2-3mins of shops, pubs, sea etc. Parking was another problem. We were advised that we should use the garage or park in front of it and certainly there was extremely limited parking otherwise. However the garage was not easily identified at 10.00pm at night and as we have a larger car (S-Max) it was very difficult to manoevre in and out of the small courtyard where the garage was. We didn't even try to get it in the garage! The view from the back of the house of the bay was lovely.

We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage, it was much bigger than I expected and the photos did not do it justice. It was lovely and clean, very spacious and had everything inside you could possibly need. There was fresh milk left for us which was a lovely touch and the whole cottage had a nautical theme. I noticed on some reviews people had put there was no full length mirror -well there is now in the main bedroom. Lots of space, large kitchen with everything in. There is even a drawer in the bedroom in which you can help yourself if you have forgotten anything-we didn't need this but is very useful just in case and another nice touch. Close to Torquay centre and walking distance to a couple of beaches. If you have a car it must be parked in the car park round the corner not on the street. The brilliant thing about it is the car park pass which meant we could travel to other beaches anywhere around Torbay and park for free!!! Saved us loads as we liked Broadsands beach a short drive away! Really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

The house is at the end of a small cul de sac with no through traffic so nice and quiet. it is well located for visiting the Agatha Christie Festival as the Museum, Imperial Hotel and Little Theatre were in walking distance were events were held. The view from the back of this property is well worth the steep climb up to it. You definitely need a car if you're not extremely fit. During the week there is a local bus every hour at the end of the street but nothing at weekends. Having a bathroom for each bedroom was very useful. There is a well equipped clean and tidy kitchen and the furniture in the sitting room was comfortable. Having a large warm conservatory at the back was a real bonus when the weather was not so good. The only downside to this was the constant drip from the water outlet pipe onto the plastic roof could be a bit annoying if under it for any length of time. I would definitely stay here again.

I found Bosuns cottage in the holiday cottages brochure and on the company website . It looked a decent place in a good location .The price for a full week in late may was acceptable. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at Bosuns cottage and discovered to our delight that it was far better than the pictures portrayed it to be. It was very clean and spacious , and the nautical theme gave it plenty of character. The town centre location is superb with all amenities close at hand . Its without doubt fantastic value for money and I cannot fault it in any way . My fiancée and I have already discussed making a return visit , theres no doubt we will stay at Bosuns again subject to availability . I would be more than happy to recommend this property to family and friends . ten out of ten. Ian Morgan , Quarry Bank , West Midlands .
