What our customers say about their holidays

    • Racheal - Verified booking

We recently enjoyed a holiday that had its ups and downs, but ultimately, we made some wonderful memories together.

First, I would like to commend our host for her helpfulness when we lost our way. She was quick to assist us, which made a stressful situation much easier to navigate. However, we did encounter a few issues during our stay that impacted our overall experience. One of the more significant challenges we faced was when the door to our accommodation got stuck. Unfortunately, we had to break it to get it open, and it was disappointing that the host did not check in with us afterwards, despite our call for assistance. A follow-up would have shown a greater level of care and attention. Additionally, we found the person in charge of the swimming area to be quite patronizing, even though we were following all the instructions provided. A more respectful approach would have made our experience much more enjoyable. Another inconvenience was the absence of a washing machine, which we had anticipated would be available. This made it challenging to manage our laundry during the trip. Despite these issues, I want to emphasize that we still managed to create some beautiful memories together. The time spent with loved ones and the adventures we shared made the holiday worthwhile. Overall, while there were some challenges, we appreciate the positive moments and the time we had away. Thank you for the experience!

The site was fabulous and the villa could be too but is in much need of refurbishment, the veranda in places has cracked decking boards which feel like they are going to go from under your feet.

The general cleanliness of the property was not good, dirty kitchen utensils cutlery, crockery, glasses and the bottles shelf in the fridge was hanging off. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been hoovered, cushion covers were marked and the stair banister was sticky! The bedding on arrival felt damp and a general musty smell on both floors, we found a half pint glass over the bulb inside the bedside lamp in the twin room! We paid extra to have a property with the hot tub however could not bring ourselves to use it even after sweeping out the area as there was a lot of dirt and sediment in the bottom of the hot tub and the lid was broken and very heavy to lift off and a very strong smell of chemicals so our money was wasted here. We couldn’t find the remote control for the tv day one but after pulling out the sofas from the walls we found three which dropped out along with bits of rubbish. We left the property way cleaner than we found it which was not my idea of relaxation! The site however was good, the kids loved the outdoor and indoor pool, the pub served lovely food we ate there a few times good menu but a little pricey. The site staff were amazing very friendly and attentive and on the whole we had a super holiday and would recommend the site to others.

The property was fine however when we booked the cottage we chose to spend well over a £100 more to have a hot tub.

Upon usage of the hot tub we noticed a brown grime all around the edges and on the filter and once turned on you could see brown grimey bubbles all over the top. We used the phone number provided on the email confirmation and got through to Kevin, the maintenance person for the hot tub and he told us that the reason for the brown grimey filth in the water is due to the fact that the hot tub is filled with water from a bore hole and not from water from South West water. So we couldn't use the hot tub once as it was filthy and disgusting. What a strange thing not to fill it with proper water! If we had known this we would NEVER have booked this cottage. To be totally honest we would like our money back for the difference between a cottage with a hot tub and one without as we could not use this hot tub. With the exception of the hot tub the cottage was okay. It was quite dirty on the outside, balconies not swept and windows thick with green grime. Things that are quite easy to rectify. We have numerous photos to back up what we are saying and we were so annoyed we left early. Please let us know where to send the photos and we look very forward to hearing your response!!

On first arrival this property was lovely, it had all we needed and seemed great for 3 adults, 3 children and a dog.

However, it soon became clear that it was getting tired and in need of some TLC. The fronts of the drawers in the larger twin room came off, the cupboard unit in the lounge had a loose door, only 1 TV had enough signal for some of the time to be watched and only 1 had a DVD player, despite listing all rooms had this. The X Box controllers didn’t work and there was no vacuum to clean over the general day to day clear up of children and pets. The cold water tap upstairs made a dreadful noise and furniture on the lower balcony was just too big for purpose. These were minor things in the long run as the location was beautiful, the on site facilities were a great addition and the lodge was comfortable and cosy. Just a few tweaks and a bit of attention to detail could make this a stay of excellent value. It would also be worth adding to the details that the lodge is at the bottom of a steep hill ( all round) and has several steps to enter, as my disabled mother would have struggled if there had been much more. This wasn’t made clear and could have influenced my decision to book.

The property is advertised as dog friendly however there is no secure area where the dog can sit outside.

The hot tub is old and many features do not work, and the information provided tells you not to press anything other than massage and lights (should be light). the cover is old, tired and falling apart in places. Generally the bedrooms are comfortable, having a tv in one of them was a bonus for out granddaughter. Upstairs was ok with plenty of seating, and a good kitchen, could do with a smaller frying pan though. The fake grass on the balcony and the hot tub area id not a nice thing to walk on it remained wet the whole time we were there. We didn't let the dog on the balcony as it would have cleared the railing easily. the heating did fail as we were using the towel rails to dry our towels, after repeated phone calls and visiting the site office someone did call us and they managed to reset it. The 2 pools on site, outdoor one tiny indoor one not very big and you do have to book a time slot no mention of that on the website. we were lucky as the owner did subscribe to the pools however others were not so lucky, this should be mentioned as well on the website
