What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ken - Verified booking

The property was as described and clean and tidy, some of the cooking utensils were a bit tired but overall a well equipped kitchen.

The dining table however was sticky and when we reported this we were told the previous occupants had reported this and despite them and housekeeping cleaning the table is had not improved, and this was not addressed during the week we were there! The other problem was the hot water, three times we lost hot water, once I was able to get it running again but the second time it went cold (we discovered at 23:30) There was nothing I could do, so reported the lack of hot water at 07:10 in the morning on the emergency number, the man answering the phone took the address and my name the said thank you and hung up! 1.5 hours later on one had turned up so I rang again to see what was happening, and was told he had sent an email to reception and maintenance who started work at 09:00, I could have done that, so what was the point of having an emergency number? This was on the Thursday (our last full day), Tracy (the receptionist, who is very good and keeps you informed) phoned to say she had the email and maintenance would be there to fix it by 10:00. We went out for the day and let Tracy know and she phoned us to say it had been fixed. The rest of the day all was good, nice hot water, however when we got up in the morning my 86 year old disabled mother in law told me she had to shower in water that was barely warm and when we checked, we did not have hot water again. As we were leaving that morning I reported the fact to Tracy as we were leaving. But really having a lodge that sleeps 6 people not being able to supply constant hot water for only 4 people (who do not all shower or bath at the same time) is not good enough. It spoilt what should have been a really good week.

1.The accommodation was really lovely, well thought out and furnished, couldn't fault it at all :) 2.

It would be good to have a few more bowls and large plates (to serve on) especially if there four people staying. 3. The listings stated that the pub and restaurant on site would be open, but it appears its only open certain times of the year. 4. Although there was tea, milk and biscuits left as a welcome, (which was great) perhaps a larger welcome pack could be left to get the holiday makers over to the next day to go shopping, as the nearest shop is quite a distance from the site. We only say this as we were hoping to have a meal in the restaurant when we got there and were going to go shopping the next day, but as the restaurant wasn't open we had to go shopping immediately after a long journey, . 5. Please note: these are observations not criticisms, as the place was gorgeous and a credit to the owners. thank you very much for letting us stay in your lovely holiday home. ******* Owner Response ******* Thank you for your feedback, we have now amended the property description to state the opening times of the local restaurant, we have also increased the amount of cutlery, plates and bowls at the property. Again we thank you for your feedback and hope to see you again soon.

On entering the property we could smell damp I think If someone had gone in before we arrived and put the heating on it might have prevented this but that was a big put off the living room was very dark even through the day we had to have the lights on the TV was on a bracket on the wall which was broken and it was on a slant and too far away from were we was sat the heating was at the opposite end of the room to were we was sat so we didn't feel the benefit on the Friday and Saturday 29th +30th of September it rained over night causing damp to come on the ceiling of the main bedroom and over the patio doors I made the owner aware of this he said he would get somebody to look at it but said I hope it doesn't affect your stay but it did on the monday 2nd of October my wife went down with the flu then on Tuesday I also went down with the flu so the second week we did not go out anywhere due to being too ill I have a video of the damp which I've already sent to you it spoilt our holiday we even came home a day early and stayed at the premier Inn halfway home because we was too ill to travel all the way we put this down to the damp

      The property was absolutely fantastic.

Prior to arrival, communication about the property (directions, access etc.) and amenities was excellent. On arrival, access to the lodge was exactly as described. The lodge was exceptionally clean, and has everything and more needed for a super comfortable stay. We loved the additional touches such as some milk in the fridge, fluffy pillows and dressing gowns. The large TV with access to Netflix and Prime allowed for cosy movie nights in (when we weren’t in the hot tub of course). The hot tub was perfect, with beautiful views over the country side. There were no problems with it at all, and the hot tub elves checked it regularly to make sure it was topped up and clean. The location of the site is also fantastic, easy access to main roads and beautiful countryside walks. We visited the crows nest pub for food as per some of the recommendations, and the staff and food there was excellent! Having a list of nearby pubs emailed to us beforehand, and also in the the lodge was so helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at Faraway Fields, and can’t wait to come back!

We have always rented cottages and this is the first time we rented a holiday home.

So we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect. But when we arrived the first, second and last impressions were very good. This includes the home but also the area around it. The home is spotless with high standard bathrooms and very good beds. The hottub; wonderful views from it, and maintain we very good. It was checked every single day, without bothering us. Just some small points: In the living room there is only lighting from the ceiling without any options to dimm it. So the only choice is no light or very bright light. The scenery from the livingroom would be perfect would it not be for the cussions on the garden furniture. It is clear they are always exposed to any kind of weather. As others already said they need to be stored away. It really brings your experience down. The same could be said for the barbeque, you don't use it in November. it is also unprotected, so it should be stored. But at least that barbeque is not in your face. As said, these are small points and we still highly recommend this home. But please do something about the mentioned points.
