Most of our many holidays over more than 50 years have been in self-catering accommodation - both in the UK and abroad. I think that Cedars Lodge is probably the best equipped and most comfortable we have stayed at. Entrance is through the kitchen, which is spacious and with everything even the most demanding of cooks might need: cooker with infra red hob, dishwasher, microwave oven, stick blender etc etc. The stock of cutlery and crockery is very generous for a two-person accommodation. The end of the kitchen has an area containing a breakfast bar and the washing machine/dryer. Our two rescue dogs were very happy to be bedded down in this snug space. The kitchen has a door leading into a square area in the middle of the house, with a coat stand, cabinet and doors leading into the bedroom, bathroom and lounge. The spacious bathroom has a wet-room style shower and heated towel rail, plus the usual. The bedroom has a king-sized bed with a firm, comfortable mattress, and fitted cupboards, drawers and dressing tables. Each side of the bed has a small cabinet and bright bedside light. The lounge has a leather covered suite comprising a three seat and two seat settees, plus and armchair. The TV provides Sky, Netflix and Prime. The broadband WiFi worked well. A windowed door from the lounge leads to the dining/sun lounge area which faces South East, with views over the hillside beyond, so it gets a lot of sun in the morning and is a nice spot to have afternoon tea. There is a dining table with four chairs. The windows have blinds for use in case the sun gets too powerful. The sun lounge has a door leading onto the patio area, which has tables and chairs for al fresco dining and a fire pit style barbecue. The grassy area is a bit smaller than it might appear from the pictures of the property, but perfectly adequate for dogs to do what dogs need to do. Overall, the accommodation is to a very high standard. It is warm, comfortable, pleasing to the eye and surprisingly spacious for just two people. The friendly owners, live in the attached house and gave us a very warm welcome as well as much useful advice about the local area. There are a dozen or so beaches and country walks within half an hour's drive, great places to eat, supermarkets, pubs and tea rooms for traditional Devon cream teas with mega-scones (but don't forget: cream on first, then the jam!)

Thank you for a lovely Autumn break at The Cottage.
Teresa and Chris, you have been extremely welcoming. The cottage itself lays in beautiful surroundings. There's plenty of space to explore. This was essential for our labradors and two children, aged 8 and 11. All the essentials were found in the cottage and the owners even offered to loan us some jigsaws for those rainy days. The swimming pool was a real bonus with our children learning to swim. Upon arrival we found tea, coffee and milk available, much needed after a long journey! (Plus a refreshing bottle of bubbly- perfect!) The family gave us space throughout our break to settle but were available to offer information about the surroundings. They said a friendly hello to our dogs and made them feel welcome too! My family highly recommend Fingle bridge for a place to explore with dogs and children, which is a little bit of a drive, but worth it! A shorter drive away is Bude, with dog friendly beaches to explore and enjoy. We visited on a rainy October day but it was still worth a visit! Thank you so much, we will be recommending you to anyone who wishes to stay in Devon/ Cornwall.

Perfect place for a relaxing break. The place was extremely well-equipped with everything you could possibly need, super clean, great secure garden for the dogs and beautifully decorated. We have two dogs so finding places that accept two of them, but which is also comfortable and allows us an enjoyable stay can sometimes be a little tricky (most places that accept two dogs tend to be a little more basic in their decor but we want a relaxing, comfy break too!), and this totally hit the mark. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone (with or without dogs) - it has ample space for two people and the owners are on hand if you need anything, but yet don't disturb you otherwise. THANK YOU for a super lovely week.

What a fantastic find! The property was exceptional, it was clean, inviting and had everything needed in all rooms. The kitchen had everything from a mixer to make cakes, down to tea, coffee and milk. The bed was very comfortable, and the sun room offered a stunning view and access to the enclosed garden. The whole area was quiet and calm; ideal for a relaxing holiday, which is exactly what we wanted. This was our first ever holiday with a dog and we spent long hours on the beach playing in the sea and sand, followed by sightseeing, and restful time in the accommodation. The owners are lovely and on hand to help. I would highly recommend the property, and will be looking to return in the near future.

We had a wonderful stay at The Cottage there was a double room twin room and if more than four a bed settee in the lounge.
There was ample space for parking. Thank you Chris, Theresa and Nanny. We really enjoyed the welcoming gift of bubbly wine on our arrival. It was very peaceful area to stay in with plenty of space outside for our granddaughter to run around and play games. It was fantastic having the pool which was a good size to swim and play in and great that we could go in it whenever we wanted this was brilliant for us. Bude is about twenty minute drive away .Black Rock Beach near Bude is excellent to travel to especially if you have a dog , great for body boarding with children, good cafe and beach shop and lovely clean toilets. We would love to return sometime for another stay.
