What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sarah - Verified booking

We had a lovely break at Sparrows Den Lodge, which is accomodation of a high standard.

That said, I will say I was disapointed to see the last visitors had left opened food in the cupboards that I would've expected to have been discovered when cleaned and thrown away. Also the saucepans, frying pans and baking trays are well past their best and the cutlery is of poor quality. Minor things but when everything else is of such a high standard it really sticks out!!! There is hardly any outside space but this is obvious from the photos, and there is still furniture to use - there just isn't any view because of the fence which does give privacy as the lodge is on the owners property and they come and go throughout the day. The lodge is in a great location, just a walk through the caravan park opposite leads to the beach and there is a Co-Op, fish and chip shop and kebab shop not far away. Its a great base for getting out and about which we did every day, and a comfy place to relax in the evenings. The reclining sofa was just bliss and the double bed so comfy - we slept really well.

As regular visitors to Winchelsea Beach, we found Ballyhandy to be an ideal holiday place to stay with our dog, and in a great location too.

It was quiet and peaceful and very relaxing. The accommodation was lovely, very clean and tastefully furnished. Loved that it has a dishwasher too! Also loved the decked veranda with seating provided as well. Also, the little extra touches like the fresh flowers, biscuits, sweets and dog treats, etc, which were all very welcome, thank you. The only thing I would say is that I felt one of the mattresses was rather uncomfortable as you could feel the springs and they tended to dig in, but maybe the mattress needed turning over perhaps. Other than that, Ballyhandy was a fantastic holiday home to stay in and we wouldn't hesitate to book there again, as well as recommended it to others. Thank you Louise, not only for your lovely accommodation but for contributing to making this a relaxing peaceful Autumn break for my husband and I!

I stayed for a week with my dogs and had a great time. The cabin is clean and comfortable with good linen and towels. I slept well on the comfortable bed and found the location peaceful. It is only a short distance from beaches, nature reserves and country parks and a good pub the White Hart with lovely food and views. The owners were faultless, kind and friendly. Their shop next to the Cabin had lovely local produce and the dog friendly cafe a real bonus. As a solo guest I felt safe staying at the Hideout and the dogs enjoyed it too in a safe secure pretty garden that has pebbles and a grass area. A good get away from it all place to stay.

On the whole this is a nice property, on arrival it was very clean.

Shower Some areas need maintenance. (Shower room, carpets are stained in places, and some general painting needed, front door was difficult to open. This property doesn’t have a view at all but is walking distance to the beach. There is ample storage, but some of it was taken up with thinks for the property. One in our party has limited mobility and struggled with the shower because the door opens l a bit narrow. We enjoyed our stay on the whole and would return in the future. Owner is very quick when responding to queries.
