What our customers say about their holidays

    • Richard - Verified booking

We recently spent an all too short weekend at Kub House, it was lovely!

It had everything we needed and more, its in a very quiet and private area, totally separate from the owners house by quite a distance compared to other holiday cottages within owners grounds, you feel you have a high degree of privacy, it has its own totally separate drive and parking area which I think is undersold in the listing, Kub House doesn't really feel like its within the owners property as such. The bed is VERY comfy with great pillows, we both slept extremely well, which is unusual for us when we go away!, plus there's an excellent shower to wake up to. The kitchen area and facilities were all of high quality and everything you could need was there, including milk, coffee and biscuits etc, thank you again Karen. Very comprehensive and interesting information was provided, its well worth a read, they certainly covered all bases there!. The local farm shop and cafe was worth a visit, the breakfasts are awesome, don't snack before hand!. There has been negative feedback in the past re the boiler making noise on occasion, we were both apprehensive about this, but are happy to say it has been somewhat over exaggerated to say the least, the only reason we could rarely and barely notice it at all was because we went out of our way to try to hear it!, after that it wasn't noticed. Although the garden area isn't huge, it is lovely, beautifully kept, peaceful and again private. The attention to detail and quality of Kub House was very pleasing. Karen was always available by phone if needed, although we had no reason to contact her, Karen went out of her way to help us with an issue we had at the end of our stay that had nothing to do with the property, which was very much appreciated, thank you again. We usually don't do do reviews because there's often as many negatives as positives to report, on this occasion we both felt strongly that Kub House and Karen deserved a very strong thumbs up! C & R

If you are looking for a little bolt-hole for a week - this is the place for you.

If you are looking for an intimate lovenest, for you and your partner - this is the place for you! I was very lucky in the sense that both of these criteria met my needs - somewhere quiet, but comfortable, where I could work uninterrupted, but be inspired by the beautiful surroundings (2 mins walk in any direction and you are in the rolling chilterns); but still have all the mod-cons that I needed to get through - Comfy bed, great shower, good internet connection, kitchen facilities (fridge, oven, kettle, dishwasher and washing machine) - perfect for the two weeks that I needed it for. The firepit outside makes an excellent addition, allowing you to cook, and eat, outside in the glorious English country air - no sounds of cars - just birds, all day long, followed by bats, foxes, deer, and badgers at night. In short - it was idyllic - and our hosts, Karen and Richard, are extremely friendly and helpful - responding to messages quickly, and their aim is to make your stay as easy and stress free as it can be. Oh, and Karen has an amazing list of entertaining/amusing websites that she enjoys talking about - make sure you get some of those from her before you leave! Would I stay again - undoubtedly!

A good base for getting around the area.

We were able to visit London (via train from Tring), Windsor, Aylesbury, St Albans and the local towns of Tring and Berkhamsted were also great and had loads of bars and restaurants. The accommodation was small but comfortable. The only negatives were the outside space needed maintaining - the grass area had not been mowed and could be described as 'relaxed mowing' but there was none of this in the owners garden (doesn't look like the pictures). Also the pebbles and pathway were full of weeds. Not great as a first impression. The garden furniture was also a bit tatty and not comfortable. We visited on the hottest week of the year and didn't really sit out as it wasn't pleasant. The only other negative is that there was not an electric kettle it was a gas one which took ages to boil and consumed a lot of wasted gas. Would expect and electric kettle in a modern property.

      Everything was as described.

And immaculately clean. Very peaceful. And pleasantly warm. The only thing that annoyed me was that I was asked to empty all the bins. And I forgot to empty the bathroom one. But felt the rate I paid was steep enough to cover that, plus the stripping the bed! I've never had to do that before leaving a property before. I'm always happy to leave things tidy. But I felt this was a bit excessive. There was also an odd noise, like a low hum, that went on for long periods in the evening/nighttime. I couldn't figure out was it was, but it sounded like a car with its engine running just outside. But it wasn't that. It unnerved me a little, and kept me awake a couple of times. So I didn't sleep as well as I expected. Apart from that, the bed was super-comfy, and lovely that the duvet wasn't too big and heavy! Everything else was fab!

      An immaculate comfortable property.

Situated on a quiet private road in woodland it is a peaceful retreat and ideal during the current difficult times. There are numerous thoughtful touches which make it a real home from home. We appreciated the quality and range of cookware and utensils as well as the smart tv with Netflix. The shop in Wiggington is staffed by cheerful, helpful staff and stocks a wide vatiety of items including newspapers. We enjoyed our meal in the friendly local pub which now has a heated marquee in the garden. If this is the location you want to be in, you would be hard pressed to find a better property fir your visit.
