What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jan & Colin - Verified booking

Never until now have we found a place that ticks all the boxes. Especially for us, a super-king bed. Having a tough year with health it was a much needed break. Unfortunately the journey wasn't good for me. Daily cancelling all our plans but thankfully hubby was able to get his well deserved chill in the hot tub. When we did get out we had dinner at Recruiting Sergeant Coltishall. Fabulous food and lovely pub with some nice seating out back. Bure River Cottage fish restaurant very good. Must book, gets full very quickly (Horsey). Ferry Inn Horning nice sitting on the water. Hilary what a fabulous job you did designing The Cartshed. It has everything and more anyone would need. Although it took a while before I met you both Colin kept telling me how wonderful and helpful you were. The goodies you left were a real treat, home grown produce for us when we got home, was wonderful. It was lovely to chat with you both this evening. Your gardens are beautiful. We will definitely be back to see more of Norfolk. Thank you.

Julie was an amazing host, meeting us on arrival to explain where everything was and we loved the flap Jack's she'd left to welcome us. The hut comes complete with everything you could need for the weekend. The bed is very comfortable, the shower has good water pressure and you are well stocked for toiletries! The guide book had all the info you could ask for and more and the laminated walking guides to explore the local area were a brilliant idea. As we'd called ahead the hot tub was ready on our arrival and what a treat it was! We topped the fire up later in the evening and the water was still warm enough for a quick morning dip the next day! There is more than enough wood for both the hot tub and the fire, both of which we enjoyed. The location is secluded and while you are in Julie's garden, we didn't see her after we'd been greeted, meaning we had a peaceful private weekend to relax and unwind. Thoroughly recommend!

A wonderful and relaxing break at Cartshed Lodge. 5 star accommodation and everything we needed. Really enjoyed the hot tub and chilling out on our return after a day out. Thank you to Hilary and Russell for being so welcoming and the scrumptious biscuits, eggs, apple juice and bundle of apples which we will use to make apple crumble on our return home. We were so lucky with the weather. Hired a boat from Sutton Staithe as recommended, and spent a few hours on The Broads which was so peaceful and relaxing, and moored up at the side of an old windmill for our picnic lunch. Went on a seal trip with Beans Boats from Morston Quay - well worth doing - saw so many seals. Visited Holkham beach which was stunning and the town of Burnham Market. Train trip on the Bure Valley steam railway and Miniature World in Wroxham. We'll be back to Norfolk as so much more to do.

Our second visit to this lovely lodge and we've had amazing weather. We borrowed bikes one day and cycled to Aylsham alone the Bure Valley Railway, and then onto Marriot's Way all the way to Reepham (and back!) The hot tub was very welcome that evening. Also visited Felbrigg Hall, Blickling Estate, and the very interesting RAF Radar Museum, which is only an hour walk away. We also recommend the walk in the information folder which you can start from the lodge. More chickens this year and we enjoyed their eggs for breakfast. We are returning home with Norfolk cider and apple juice from Wroxham Barns (a short walk away), and jam and marmalade from Mrs. Marmalade (on the way to Wroxham).

    • Sue & Cliff - Verified booking

We've had a lovely week here. Cannot fault the accommodation - it is so comfortable and everything you could need is provided. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings and the welcome gifts and fruit/veg during the week were lovely. We're returning home with Norfolk apple juice and cider plus several jars of jam and marmalade bought from 'Mrs Marmalade' - on the left hand side of the road as you walk down into Wroxham. She sells them for charity and tells us she usually makes some every day. We hired a boat from Sutton Staithe, went on the Bure Valley Railway, visited Horsey windpump and also Hunstanton where our grown-up children were playing in the annual tennis tournament.
