What our customers say about their holidays

    • Martin C - Verified booking

“We didn't realise that 35 Siesta Mar was on a chalet park until we arrived. However the chalet park is lovely - the chalets are well spaced out with lots of grass and flowers and a small area behind the chalet with a useful washing line. Whilst we were there (July, beginning of the school holidays) the park was very peaceful and quiet and seemed to mainly appeal to older couples. The chalet is small but very well organised with everything you need. There were lots of helpful touches like little labels on the the switches to tell you what they control. There was no free cupboard to store food in the kitchen, but we moved a trolley out of one of the bedrooms for the duration of our stay and it was perfect for cereals, fruit etc. There is a Tesco Express 5 minutes walk away and a Waitrose a short drive away. The chalet is perfectly situated for a peaceful seaside holiday. There are lovely local walks both by the coast and in the countryside. You can walk to the beach in about 6 mins from the chalet if you want to go down steep steps. If you take a slightly longer walk (10-15 mins) through the village you reach the main beaches, which are beautiful and not crowded. There are some stones but large areas of soft sand too. There is a lovely fish and chip shop in the village that even offers gluten free and is to be highly recommended. There are also lots of places to visit nearby too. We booked this in a hurry as soon as lockdown restrictions allowed and weren't really sure what to expect, but had a wonderful holiday and would definitely go back. Thank you for such a lovely, well maintained holiday home. A lot of thought and care has gone into looking after this chalet to a very high standard.
”

    • Jo K - Verified booking

“Booked very last minute, primary requirements were close to the beach and easy access shower. Chalet is on a site which is excellently maintained, chalet itself was well maintained, clean and provided everything needed (including windbreak for the beach, umbrella for sitting in the sun) Dark skies at night (just what I love) and incredibly quiet - slept through the night, I didn't even hear the torrential rain on the Thursday night. There are no services on site, but the site is a 10 minute walk to the village centre, where there is a butcher, baker and grocers, pharmacy and other local services. There is a Tesco Express one minute walk away, next to the petrol station. Although the beach is 700 m walk away, to reach the beach you need to negotiate the steep stairs down the side of the cliff. I would recommend walking the 10 minutes into the village centre for easier access, however it's worth the climb down and you can walk along the beach towards the village centre and come back that way. I also walked towards Trimmingham, and went on the beach there. There didn't seem to be too much in the way of evening dining, during the day, plenty of choise for fish n chips, etc otherwise a couple of hotels really was all I could find - but I didn't look that hard. We drank at The Star Inn one early evening, but didn't eat there. We did have one takeaway, I would recommend the New Sage chinese takeaway. For walking, the lanes were fairly quiet, and the pavements around the village well maintained. There were plenty of short cuts, if you want to explore the village.
Overall, a thoroughly relaxing stay and the weather was wonderful”

    • Jan & Colin - Verified booking

Never until now have we found a place that ticks all the boxes. Especially for us, a super-king bed. Having a tough year with health it was a much needed break. Unfortunately the journey wasn't good for me. Daily cancelling all our plans but thankfully hubby was able to get his well deserved chill in the hot tub. When we did get out we had dinner at Recruiting Sergeant Coltishall. Fabulous food and lovely pub with some nice seating out back. Bure River Cottage fish restaurant very good. Must book, gets full very quickly (Horsey). Ferry Inn Horning nice sitting on the water. Hilary what a fabulous job you did designing The Cartshed. It has everything and more anyone would need. Although it took a while before I met you both Colin kept telling me how wonderful and helpful you were. The goodies you left were a real treat, home grown produce for us when we got home, was wonderful. It was lovely to chat with you both this evening. Your gardens are beautiful. We will definitely be back to see more of Norfolk. Thank you.

    • A, S, K, C & Alfie the dog - Verified booking

We had a lovely stay and would recommend this cosy cottage. The host was more than generous and thought of everything that we would need or may have forgotten for our stay. We were staying for a week at Christmas and the Christmas tree was lit and the tasteful interiors was lovely, and even left logs for the log burner, until we purchased some ourselves. The host kindly left us a bottle of wine, mince pies, biscuits and a Christmas card. The location is great as you can walk over to Thornham and have food either in the Orange Tree or The Lifeboat Inn and don't forget the Deli in Thornham too if you require some food to take back to the cottage. Then you can walk the other way from the cottage to Old Hunstanton and eat at The Lodge. The walks are so lovely and only ten minutes to get to the Holme beach, but I would recommend visiting Holkham beach, Wells-next-the-Sea if you want a lot more going on.

A wonderful and relaxing break at Cartshed Lodge. 5 star accommodation and everything we needed. Really enjoyed the hot tub and chilling out on our return after a day out. Thank you to Hilary and Russell for being so welcoming and the scrumptious biscuits, eggs, apple juice and bundle of apples which we will use to make apple crumble on our return home. We were so lucky with the weather. Hired a boat from Sutton Staithe as recommended, and spent a few hours on The Broads which was so peaceful and relaxing, and moored up at the side of an old windmill for our picnic lunch. Went on a seal trip with Beans Boats from Morston Quay - well worth doing - saw so many seals. Visited Holkham beach which was stunning and the town of Burnham Market. Train trip on the Bure Valley steam railway and Miniature World in Wroxham. We'll be back to Norfolk as so much more to do.
