What our customers say about their holidays

    • Denise - Verified booking

This lodge is actually a nice property.

However, there were several elements that resulted in our stay being less than satisfactory. The lodge itself had some things that did not seem to have been maintained properly. The plug on the bath broke after our first use, making the bath unusable. Whilst the owners did contact us about this, nothing was actually done. The taps on the sink in the bathroom were tight and using these resulted in unscrewing elements of the tap and slight dripping. The door handle on the en-suite is missing screws and came off. The oven door would not stay open meaning that cooking was hazardous as it required two of us to remove any item and even then, the door kept swinging shut. This resulted in our being unwilling to subsequently use this. The TV remote does not correspond with the symbols thereon which meant that we had to contact reception to find out how to get subtitles up. The hot tub is lovely in itself, however, we were unable to use this on the final evening as it had been refilled for the next clients and was not at temperature. This information was stated in the welcome book in the property but we did not know this before we arrived. We have stayed in several properties with hot tubs before, including two at Herons Brook, and this has never been an issue in the past. It is disappointing to book a property with this facility, only to find that it is not avaiable for one of the nights. This should be made clear on the listing for the property. Some of these points may seem trivial but the combination meant that our stay was not the excellent experience we have been used to in the past. We feel somewhat let down and are now reluctant to book again.

I am a professional, middle aged, well travelled individual, and have much experience of hot tubs.

Whilst the lodge itself was pleasant and clean, unfortunately I came home a day early with appalling Hot Tub Rash, diagnosed by both a qualified Minor Injuires Nurse AND my GP, and have been placed on high dose, of strong antibiotics (Docycyline and Fucidin cream ) for a week. When I complained, I have been told Sykes Cottages take no responsibility and offer no good will gesture as this is a Health and Safety issue, and the owner wil be informed and take it from there. I have heard absolutely nothing, and am unable to get through to anyone in spite of sending photographs etc. SHOCKING! Hot tub rash occurs because of DIRTY WATER and POOR HYGIENE, and a lack of chlorine and chemical balance in the water. To add insult to injury, the Hot tub is actually out of use on the last day, as allegedly the water is changed and cleaned. Given my rash was developing, we left a day early, unsure of the exact cause at the time. Noone expects to pay a premium for a Hot Tub and have this experience. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU THINK TWICE ABOUT BOOKING WITH SYKES COTTAGES AND THIS PROPERTY, AS THERE IS NO COMEBACK WHEN UNFIT FOR PURPOSE. APPARENTLY AN OWNER HAS TO ADMIT FAULT, AND THE POLICY OF THIS LODGE IS TO IGNORE YOU. DISGUSTING. SEE PHOTOS. I HAVE BEEN IN A TERRIBLE STATE FOR A WEEK. SYKES ALSO CHOOSE TO IGNORE ME AFTER THEIR INTIAL RESPONSE THAT IT IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE, THUS CANNOT OFFER A GOODWILL GESTURE. AGAIN DISGUSTING. SEE PHOTOGRAPHS, AND DECIDE IF THIS IS WHAT YOU WISH TO RISK. WE WILL NEVER USE EITHER SERVICE AGAIN.

We were really delighted with the lodge.

After spending quite a lot of time online researching different cottages and holiday homes we chose this one based upon how light and modern the home looked. We were not disappointed at all. The owners have decorated and furnished the lodge beautifully and to a high spec. There was everything you would need and more in a holiday home (in fact it would be easy to live there). The lounge was bathed in sunshine every morning and it was a real pleasure to walk in there when we got up each day. Lovely decking outside and we were lucky with the weather and able to enjoy a coffee and the view out there. The beds were comfortable, the shower decent and the holiday park nice and quiet. Great location especially as we had our electric bikes with us so were able to cycle easily from the park to Tenby along the stunning coastal path.

Luxury Lodge, well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Five star site which was equally well maintained. Location ideal for walking to Wiseman's Bridge and Saundersfoot. Erisa had all the home from home comforts and a bonus of having a huge decked area for alfresco dining. We were able to bring our Cockapoo Mable who loved the decked area and she would wag her tail at passers by. The only negative for us was the main bed which was extremely firm and pillows not comfy. However this is personal preference and we should have thought to bring our own Tempur pillows and mattress topper. This would definitely not deter us from staying at this superb lodge again which is a credit to its owners and maintenance team.

    • Debra - Verified booking

We have stayed in lots of lodges on this park over the last 5 years but this lodge rated 5 stars was actually not up to expectations.

On arrival when we opened the door the place smelt very unpleasant like stale cooking smells. The patio doors were covered in finger marks and the cooker had a Teflon sheet in the bottom of the oven which was covered in grease. The double bedroom the bedding smelt most unpleasant of other peoples BO. Luckily we took our own pillows because of the COVID situation but I wish we had also taken our own bedding. Considering that you have to vacate the lodge by 9 am and cannot enter until 5 pm because of the changeover cleaning it certainly was not up to expectations. And we would not return to this lodge again.
