What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lindsay - Verified booking

Just returned from the most amazing week at The Gulley!

From the minute we arrived it felt like home. The beautiful flowers, cake, honey, juice & milk added to the welcoming feel. The way the home has been furnished and kitted out is amazing. All equipment is very high-end and carefully thought out. We cooked and ate in every night, and I can honestly say there was nothing we didn't have in the fully equipped kitchen. The beds were super comfy and the luxury of us all having an en-suite bathroom was a massive plus - no queuing for the bathroom in the morning! The weather was great and we explored many places including Cheddar Gorge, Lyme Regis, Durdle Door & Lulworth. Had a great day in Swanage and enjoyed the steam train ride to Corfe Castle. Coming back to relax in the hot-tub was the highlight of the day and a wonderful addition to this beautiful home and many a game was played on the pool table in the evenings. Had some great walks along the river and the walk across the field with the friendly cows to the Rose & Crown pub in Trent was great and comes highly recommended! All in all this is by far the best holiday home we have stayed in and will definitely be back. Rob & Sarah are lovely hosts and have a place to be proud of!

We have just returned from a week at ‘The Gully’ it is simply stunning, the photos don’t do it justice, large, spacious and beautifully decorated.

Every detail was considered resulting in a wonderful weeks stay for five adults, one child and two dogs. We recommend a visit to Sherbourne town, Yeovil Country Park, Hams Hill and Haynes Motor Museum. The facilities at the property are great! The hot tub was used daily along with the pool table which isn’t shown in the photos. The games room is well equipped with books and board games. There’s also a BBQ - which isn’t shown. There are three friendly sheep in the paddock directly next to the house, this wasn’t an issue for us but maybe worth discussing with the owners pre booking if you have a reactive dog. There are two local walks but otherwise the roads and narrow and fast so a car is needed to get out and about, everything is close including supermarkets if needed. We stayed in the hottest week of the year. The two upstairs rooms were very hot but fans were provided. The owners Sarah and Rob are super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble! We can’t fault our stay and would love to return, especially in the winter to take advantage of the the huge log burner!

We came to The Stable House with friends for the weekend and had a really enjoyable stay.

The house is very comfortable with beautifully decorated bedrooms and lovely homely touches. The hot tub was lovely and warm when we arrived and we enjoyed using it in the evenings especially with the outside lights overhead, however both evenings it was windy and did start raining which cooled it down somewhat! The beds were extremely comfortable and the pool table in the lounge was great. My only criticisms would be that for a property that sleeps 8 there was only one small stand up shower cubicle downstairs. There is a huge bathroom upstairs and the roll top bath was beautiful, but not especially practical for that many people (we did run out of hot water on a couple of occasions, especially when we all wanted to shower/bathe after the hot tub). Also, due to the layout of the 4th bedroom, there was no option to be able to push the twins beds together to make a double, which would have been nice as there were 4 couples staying. Despite this, it was a lovely property and I would consider staying again.

We stayed as a group of extended family for the weekend to celebrate a big birthday.

The cottage was lovely and clean. It has recently been refurbished, so had a new kitchen and an extra ensuite shower room. The hot tub is close to the back door and in a secluded area with easy access to the downstairs shower. All the little extras are really appreciated; milk, orange juice, cake, flowers, local honey and dog biscuits. Our dogs loved running round the back garden then falling asleep in front of the log fire. Everyone enjoyed using the pool table and there were plenty of squishy sofas to relax on. It really feels like a home from home. We had a slight problem finding the place. We had put the Stable House Mudford into Google maps and it took us to a pair of cottages down the road. We realised this wasn't the right place after pulling into someone else's drive. On Google maps Evans and Pearce Mudford takes you to the correct location. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will probably book again in the future.

      What an amazing place.

Beautiful location, the house was stunning, clean, great size and perfect for us. We went with 8 adults and 3 dogs. The dogs loved it and had loads of space the play around. The owners were great and helped us whenever needed. The weather was good, overcast but that did not stop us enjoying the garden and hot tub. Great attention to details, everything you think you would need, this place has and more. We well overpacked as everything we needed was already there. Bedrooms were very spacious and and the shower/bath/wet rooms were phenomenal. Would strongly recommend taking a walk to King Alfred's Tower if you like walking. Beautiful scenery, great walk and perfect for dogs too. We spent a few days in Weymouth too which was great too. There are shops a short drive away and the local farm shop was great. Thank you to Rob & Sarah for having us! We will defiantly be looking to come back soon.
