Guests say

Strandline Cottage in Alnmouth is generally appreciated for its excellent location, comfortable beds, and homely feel. Guests enjoy the proximity to shops, restaurants, and the beach, and find the property clean and well-equipped for a pleasant stay. Some guests suggest improvements in maintenance and facilities, but overall experiences are positive, with many looking forward to future visits.

The property is mostly described as clean, with specific praise for the crisp bedding and warm atmosphere. However, a few guests noted areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as the kitchen and general dust and crumbs.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local amenities, the beach, and transport links. Guests love the bustling street and the easy access to Alnmouth's attractions.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property warm and welcoming. Some discomfort is noted with the sofa and the separate toilet's lack of heating, suggesting room for improvement.

The property is well-equipped, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a leak in the bathroom, a window that doesn't close, and a need for more heating. The absence of a dishwasher and the state of the kitchen are also noted.

While some guests mention the lack of a welcome pack and basic provisions, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such amenities are not guaranteed and can vary.

However the kitchen is very dated, with no dishwasher and the bed too small and uncomfortable. General maintenance of the proper had not been kept up, with the sitting room ceiling having been replastered in one corner but not repainted . Much of the paintwork was chipped and the whole property needed a thorough cleaning . Other properties often provide generous welcome packs with basic foodstuff like bread and milk and then little luxuries like wine and chocolates. In Strandline even the salt and pepper containers were empty! The overall impression was of owners wishing to make as much money as possible while providing as little as possible for their guests. We would not stay here again.

The views down the street from different angles offer great people (and dog) watching possibilities and what a lovely bustling street it is! Scott’s Deli is fantastic- we watched the coffee queue grow each morning! There are also great pubs and cafés only minutes away. The house is generally comfortable although we felt it could have been cleaner. Nothing terrible, just crumbs and dust etc. but it definitely influenced our first impressions. Strandline has lots of character and suited us well as a base to walk sections of the wonderful Northumberland coast. We would definitely return.

Such a good location for the shops, beach, train station and buses. The beach and golf club 5 mins walk. The property was very clean everything you need in it. The only thing I would have liked was a welcome pack, just some milk / bread would be a nice touch as I have had in other places I have stayed. We drove from London which took 7 hours so the local post office was closed when we arrived, so no milk for tea until the morning. Other than that we had a great stay and look forward to booking again next year. Thank you.
