Further afield there are magnificent castles to discover such as Dunstanburgh, Warkworth, Lindisfarne and Cragside, with towns such as the historic market town of Alnwick; Alnmouth known for its excellent golf course; and the farming hamlet of Howick which is known for being the birthplace of Earl Grey tea. A bustling, pretty fishing village with an attractive harbour, situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seahouses offers a variety of shops and a good selection of inns, pubs and eating places. Nearby are miles and miles of splendid sandy beaches and the opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from Seahouses, is not to be missed. There are numerous castles and great houses to explore, such as the magnificent castles at Bamburgh, Cragside, and Alnwick (home of the Duke of Northumberland), to mention just a few. Golf, fishing and riding are also available locally.

The Bakehouse is ideally located for easy access to the centre of Seahouses. The house itself is large and provides everything you need for a self catering holiday. The layout of the house is slightly quirky but all the more attractive for it. There is a comfortable, lived-in feel to the building and it easily accommodates up to six people. The small outside spaces are also attractive. A great base for a break!

The property was very clean and comfortable and was very well equipped. We loved the location of the cottage and all Seahouses had to offer. We took a boat trip out to Inner Farne with Serenity on a beautiful sunny day which was fabulous, seeing so many different bird species nesting. A photographs Paradise! Julie is great host and the cottage is full of photos, paintings and interesting things to look at. We thoroughly recommend it!
