The location is frequently described as great for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to walks and nearby towns. The village's limited amenities are noted, but the proximity to Bakewell and Buxton compensates for this.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and secure bike storage. However, some guests mention dated bathrooms and a preference for a washing machine over a dishwasher, indicating room for improvement.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident in the welcome packs with homemade bread, cakes, and marmalade. While these gifts are warmly received, it is noted that such personal touches, though delightful, may vary and are not guaranteed.
A fabulous barn conversion in the midst of the Peak District.
This lovely barn conversion is set in the midst of Monyash village which has got everything that a traditional country village should have - village green, village mere, welcoming pub, friendly cafe, and walks galore out into beautiful Derbyshire countryside. The barn has been superbly decorated, furnished and equipped to make it a real 'home from home' from which to explore all the wonders of the Peak District.
Take a stroll to the local tea rooms for breakfast, hop in the car and head to nearby Bakewell to pick up a famous 'pudding' for lunch and then take a bike ride along the High Peak or Monsal Trails out over the tops of the Peaks. You might also fancy soaring into the sky in a Heights of Abraham cable car or stepping back in time in the stunning Chatsworth House. As you head back to the barn gaze in wonder at one of the most superb views in the whole of Derbyshire with Monyash nestling in the folds of the hills.

Sheldon Barn is a good base to travel to all parts of the Peak District easily and plenty of nice pubs with good food minutes drive away too. Has all you would need for a good stay with a well stocked kitchen and good living space and comfortable bedrooms. Lovely home made goodies etc in a welcome pack and oodles of helpful information on whole area. Bathrooms/well showers mainly, were a little troublesome but hopefully may be remedied by owners? Great pub a few mins walk away at end of the village The Bulls Head (huge portions lol) and great cafe next to it where we had breakfast on check out day. A nice quiet spot to stay!

We had a good stay despite rather mixed weather. The accommodation is mostly very comfortable and well appointed, but the bathrooms are rather dated and the headroom in the showers is limited - OK for us, but might not suit a tall person. The owners live at their B&B next door and were very helpful and welcoming. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep and nearby, with maps provided, The EV charging point is at the rear of the barn and easy to use.
Mr Gibbs
A very cosy, warm and comfortable cottage and an ideal location for us to explore the peak district. Lovely hosts, the fresh bread, cakes and homemade jam was a very welcome touch.
