Guests consistently praise the Waters Edge @ The Alleys for its tasteful decor, homely touches, and welcoming atmosphere. The cottage's peaceful setting in Derbyshire is appreciated for its proximity to local attractions and natural beauty. While some guests desired more outdoor play space for children, the well-kept gardens and scenic surroundings are noted positively. The owner, Kath, receives special mention for her hospitality.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and comfortable. There was a single mention of the need for more thorough cleaning in places, but this seems to be an isolated comment rather than a common concern.
The location is highly praised for its quietness, beautiful scenery, and convenience for exploring the Peak District. It is also noted for being within walking distance to Carsington Water and close to various attractions.
Reviews frequently describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with a well-appointed setting. Comfortable beds and a welcoming boot room for wet days are highlighted, contributing to a relaxing stay.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the property described as well-equipped. However, there are comments about the lack of mobile signal, and one mention of maintenance issues like windows streaming with water and worn cooker controls, suggesting room for improvement.
While guests mention receiving a warm welcome and some appreciated gestures such as wine, milk, and cookies, there are not enough references to gifts or additional thoughtful touches to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.
A superb cottage in a peaceful location in the little hamlet of Atlow close to the attractive market town of Ashbourne.
This stylish cottage is located beside a sparkling brook and offers views over the valley from the cottage's lounge, ideal for sunrise vistas. The outdoor patio provides a lovely dining area, where you can watch the wild birds. Within the lounge, there is an ornate wood-burning stove for use in cooler weather.
The peaceful valley is ideal for walks throughout the tranquil countryside. Carsington Water with its visitor centre and water sports and the historic market town of Wirksworth are nearby. Bicycles are highly recommended for your trip to add an extra layer to your adventure as many of the local attractions are within cycling distance.
The Georgian terraces in Ashbourne are another popular nearby spot where you will find numerous places to go for food. Antique and fashion shops are also available.

The owner was very friendly but not intrusive. She went out of her way to be chatty and kind to our two children.
