Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and well-maintained, with one mentioning it was 'as clean as a cottage like this is getting,' suggesting a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its quiet village setting and proximity to the Peak District, with easy access to local walks and attractions. However, some guests were disappointed with the local pub closures.

The cottage is frequently described as comfortable and cosy, with good beds and a homely feel. Some guests found the shower height challenging, which slightly impacts the comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the kitchen, but there are comments about the overgrown garden and early morning construction noise. The WiFi is noted to be patchy due to thick walls.

Many reviews mention the owners' thoughtfulness, including helpful notes and a cake on arrival. While such gestures are appreciated, it is politely noted that these are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Ivy Cottage is a stunning, spacious stone cottage situated in the heart of the village of Earl Sterndale, five miles from Buxton, Derbyshire and amidst the wonderful countryside of upper Dovedale and the Staffordshire moorlands, with a wealth of walks and cyciling routes from the doorstep. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived and really appreciated the amount of equipment available in the kitchen. It made the cooking a real pleasure. We will definitely be back!!

Good comfortable bedrooms. Lovely log burner with enough fuel supplied for a week in the lounge, separate dining room, and a recent new kitchen. Earl Sterndale, a great (and peaceful) location to explore the Peak District. If you have an electric car, you can charge in Buxton, 50KW BP/polar. The cottage postcode was not recognized by our car or Asda home delivery. Put in Earl Sterndale Church as a location in the sat nav, cottage is next door.
