The Old Post Office at Holmfirth receives high praise for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and quality furnishings. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, including a hot tub and games room. The property's location is ideal, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. While there are minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvement, the overall experience is very positive, with special mentions of a thoughtful welcome gift.
Guests consistently note the property's cleanliness, with rooms described as spotless and clean. However, a few comments mention dust, cobwebs, and unclean outdoor areas, slightly affecting the score.
The location is highly praised for its convenience and beauty, with easy access to local pubs, shops, and the centre of Holmfirth. The scenic setting in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales adds to the appeal.
Comfort is a strong point, with guests finding the beds extremely comfortable and the living spaces cosy. Some minor issues with heating and hot water are noted, but overall, the comfort level is high.
Facilities like the hot tub, outdoor seating, and games room are well-received. However, maintenance issues such as blocked drains, a leaking fridge, and empty shower gel dispensers lead to a slightly lower score.
The provision of a welcome gift and birthday card is mentioned positively, indicating thoughtfulness. However, the lack of basic supplies like hand wash and kitchen essentials suggests room for improvement. It should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and not guaranteed.

On the edge of the West Yorkshire Pennines, in the picturesque Holme Valley, is the historic, traditional Pennine town of Holmfirth. Holmfirth, made popular by the television series The Last of the Summer Wine, is not only Compo and Nora Batty's stocking town! The best live music venue in the North of England, the "Picturedrome," is in the heart of the city and draws many well-known bands. The 2014 Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire pelotons both passed through this small Holme Valley village on their way up the famous 524-meter Holme Moss climb, which is located two miles away. Cycling's three-time Olympic medalist Ed Clancy was raised on these hills.
This property is in a residential area and therefore guests are asked to be respectful of neighbours at all times, specifically guests are asked to be quiet outside between the hours of 10pm and 9am and to not use the hot tub during this time.

The house was even nicer than expected. The kids loved the hot tub and we had such a fun evening playing pool in the basement. The person looking after the property was helpful and easy to contact. Holmfirth itself was beautiful with lots of little cafes, shops and pubs. We would happily come back.

The house is absolutely beautiful and really comfortable. Rooms are spacious and beds are cozy. There was a few small critiques from all nine of us who stayed. There is no hand wash in any of the rooms and we think there should be given the price etc. Also, just small things like salt and pepper, kitchen roll, t-bags and sugar would be great in the kitchen. There was a lovely welcome box with a few bits in which was great. The fridge leaked in the kitchen to the point where the floor was sodden so we had to leave a towel down the whole time. The showers have no pressure but everything else was superb. Thank you so much for having us. X

For example, when trying to pay our balance, we could not find our booking on the website. Contact through phone calls was impossible. We ended up phoning Snaptrip, the umbrella company. In contrast, the management company was very easy to contact and responses were speedy. An example was to request a cot and highchair, which we could only do 24 hours before arrival ie couldnât contact Sykes so had to rely on management company of the property. We were very lucky there was availability of these items. Generally, the property was great. Lots of room and good facilities. However, we had one very disappointing aspect. There were 9 toilets, 7 showers and 2 baths and the owners only provided 3 hand soaps. For the money we paid, we could not understand why at least small bars of soap were not available. Why were there shower gel dispensers on the wall and nothing in them? Were the guests expected to fill them?
