Guests say

Guests consistently praise the Hidden Door for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. The property is appreciated for its convenient location in Penzance, with easy access to local amenities. The thoughtful touches by the hosts, including a chilled bottle of wine, contribute to a welcoming and homely experience. Although parking can be challenging and some noise from neighbours was mentioned, the overall sentiment is extremely positive, with many guests planning return visits.

Reviewers frequently highlight the exceptional cleanliness of the property, describing it as 'exceptionally clean' and 'very well maintained', indicating a high standard of cleanliness throughout.

The location is praised for its convenience, being central to Penzance and close to transport links. However, a mention of parking difficulties on a bank holiday suggests that while generally good, the location may have occasional accessibility issues.

Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests finding the property very comfortable and homely. The comfortable bed and sofa are specifically mentioned, suggesting a high level of satisfaction in this area.

The property is repeatedly commended for being well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and for having everything needed for a self-catering break. The mention of a 'best equipped kitchen' indicates that facilities and maintenance are of a high standard.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful gestures, such as a chilled bottle of wine, which add to the welcoming atmosphere. While these gifts are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Hidden Door is a delightful, ground-floor apartment based in the heart of Penzance, Cornwall. Enjoying easy access to local amenities, including a beach, Hidden Door provides a splendid bolthole for couples seeking a break in this part of Cornwall. Park your car on the roadside and breathe in the salty air before getting to know your new home-from-home. Internally, the apartment features a contemporary décor, with imposing high ceilings and in the kitchen there is a vaulted ceiling and large skylight that floods the room with light. An inviting and spacious sitting room is the idyllic spot to return to after a long day and provides a true home-from-home feel where you can get lost in a good book or delight in some light entertainment. As you become hungry, move into the kitchen/diner to prepare a sumptuous feast to be enjoyed at the breakfast bar for two, with a number of appliances to assist with home-cooking. There’s even a dishwasher and a washing machine, handy for when your trails take off on a muddier route! As the night rolls in, head to the double bedroom to recharge before awakening to a refreshing shower in the morning. Penzance makes a great holiday base; become better acquainted with your surroundings and head out on foot to feel the wind in your hair on the coastal path, browse the bustling harbour and refuel at a local café or restaurant. Browse the delights of the Penlee House Gallery and Museum, head to the outdoor Jubilee Pool for a swim or take in the sights at 16th-century Trengwainton Garden. After all that, tuck into a portion of fish and chips, or if you’re seeking more adventure, why not catch a ferry over to the Isles of Scilly? Marazion is a must visit for wildlife lovers, home to the RSPB Marazion March, whilst the art galleries at St Ives can be found slightly further afield. With plenty to look forward to, a stay at the Hidden Door awaits.

Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival are all held in Penzance. Moreover, there are the Penlee, Newlyn, and Exchange art galleries. The breathtaking sweep of Mount's Bay, which stretches from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to lovely Marazion, is one of Cornwall's most well-liked vacation spots. The coastline conceals a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves, as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. The National Trust's breathtakingly gorgeous St. Michael's Mount, with its hilltop fortress and Mediterranean gardens, is connected by a causeway to the sea at Marazion. When the tide is low, you can walk across and then ride one of the ferry boats back. Penzance is a must-see since it serves as both the harbour and the starting point for day tours to the Islands of Scilly, and it has winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants, and a harbour. The South West Coast Path, which travels through Penzance on its route to Land's End, winds along the clifftops. On the way, pause in the lovely Lamorna Cove for a coffee and a rest, tour the outdoor Minack Theatre, and take in the cliff views as you get closer to Gwennap Head. A beautiful walk for anyone looking for peace, exercise, and some of the best coastline vistas in the Country. Penzance is the ideal vacation home base. Comforting with everything that you could ask for. It was my second stay, and i would not have hesitated to book it again..!! Unfortunately, as this gem has now been sold, that is not possible. The location was also great. Central to Penzance, and close to the Train Station. I will definitely miss being behind the Hidden Door. I just want to say thanks to Sam, and Mum of Sam, for letting me stay there. All the best wishes to two lovely ladies. Phil.xx
