Discover the beauty of South Cornwall when you stay at this exquisite lodge near St Austell. Nestled in leafy hotel grounds, 1 mile from the Cornish town, this three-bedroom retreat is one of several Scandinavian-style holiday homes on the exclusive site close to Trewhiddle. Sleeping six guests, it offers access to the hotel’s leisure facilities, including tennis courts, a pool, steam room and sauna, and is just 2 miles from the beach.
Tear yourselves away from the wooded grounds to let yourselves into your private abode. The accommodation here has been cleverly arranged in a reverse-level design, with bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor and living space above, where the views are pulled right inside. Downstairs, you will find your super-king-size room, which has zip-and-link beds and can therefore also be made up as a twin if requested. There is also a double bedroom down here, plus a twin and the family bathroom. One of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. Follow the stairs up to the first floor to the lounge/kitchen/diner. Open the doors onto the balcony at one end to bring in a summer breeze. Rustle up delicious dinners in the kitchen area then gather round the table to enjoy them. Soak up the serenity out on your private balcony or make the most of the shared BBQ patio.
Walking enthusiasts might like to head to Porthpean to pick up the South West Coast Path, then hike 3.5 miles along it to Pentewan. The beach at Pentewan, 3 miles away by car, is known for its beautiful white sand and clear waters. Porthpean is also a great place for families to swim and play games on the sand. Plan trips to the Eden Project, 5 miles away, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, 4 miles away.
Mrs Trivett
We stayed in the lodge with our teenage children and our nephews also stayed with us for part of the time. In was really good to have the large open plan space upstairs for meals, playing family games and using the desk some days for work/schoolwork. The weather was rainy but the balcony with table and chairs would have been great if the weather had been better. The kitchen was functional but there was no frying pan for example. The big plus was having the advantage of our own space with ability to self cater but also being able to use the hotel restaurant and bar some days and the gym, swimming pool and spa. This relieved the frustration of late-rising teenagers as we were able to use the gym/swimming pool in the mornings before they were ready to go out! I would recommend.
