Guests that stayed at this property said

Cleanliness reviews are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage spotless and well-presented, while others noted areas where cleaning was lacking, such as floors, kitchen cupboards, and the presence of cobwebs. The inconsistency leads to a score above average, reflecting both the positive experiences and the areas for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local attractions, beaches, and transport links, with many guests enjoying the nearby coastal walks and the ease of taking the train to St Ives. The proximity to a friendly pub is also noted as a positive aspect.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, mentioning cosy beds and a well-equipped kitchen. However, some guests found the furniture and space less comfortable, particularly in the living area. The overall sentiment is positive, with a few suggestions for improvement.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being described as well-equipped and having a secure garden. Some guests encountered minor issues with parking, appliances, and heating regulation. Maintenance issues like light bulbs and bathroom fixtures were occasionally mentioned.

While some guests mentioned a welcome pack and thoughtful touches, there is not enough consistent information about the provision of gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that while such gestures are appreciated, they are not guaranteed.

About this property

The Pippin is a charming, cosy granite terraced house in Lelant. With beautiful beaches on the doorstep, pretty villages around and St Ives just minutes away, it is a perfectly positioned holiday home. This cosy cottage is in the heart of the peaceful village that is bound by the Hayle Estuary to the east and the sweep of St Ives Bay to the north. The white stretch of Porth Kidney Sands is just 10 minutes walk away, this little known beach is stunning and lined with incredible sand dunes.

The two storey cottage has characterful accommodation with a lovely inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove in the living room for a warm welcome as soon as you walk in through the front door. The kitchen and shower room are also on the ground floor and upstairs are the two bedrooms one double and one single, both beautifully appointed. There is an enclosed sunny garden to the rear which has a barbecue and is perfect for relaxing in the warmer months with a good book. Lelant itself has a basic provisions store and good food is served at the Badger Inn. Golfers are welcomed at the nearby club and are sure to enjoy the 18 hole links course which has great sea views. The branch line to St Ives is just down the hill - hop aboard for this short train ride - on arrival, the much painted pretty harbour will need no introduction - enjoy an ice cream whilst taking in the view. The Pippin is a lovely home for a small family or group of friends and is an ideal base for exploring Cornwall at any time of year - book soon!

The village of Lelant sits on the mouth of the Hayle estuary, with a large sandy beach to one side and a narrow strip of sandy coves accompanying the estuary water inland. Ideally placed for sightseeing, where you can jump on the branch line to St Ives for a day trip or drive across to the magical St Michael's Mount in Marazion. With beaches on both coasts easily accessible you will never be stuck for trips to the beach. The closest is Porthkidney Sands which can be reached on foot along the estuary which winds its way through sand dunes to where the River Hayle joins the Atlantic Ocean. Lelant has two pubs, a deli and restaurant and a golf course with outstanding views.

Friends described the pictures as looking like the Caribbean! Only needed the car once in the whole week for a trip to the supermarket as the nearest shops just a bit too far to walk with shopping on a hot day but managed on foot for the bulk of the time. A train trip to St Ives only taking 8 mins and costing less than parking. Dog friendly accommodation near a dog beach is surprisingly hard to find and one this good is like gold.

We rent a cottage most years and felt the welcome package could have been little better for the price paid, (pint of skimmed milk). Cottage was cleaned to a fair standard but felt the lawns could have been mowed and there was a bag of dog poo left by the bins. When stripping the sheets to depart the property we noticed the duvets/pillows supplied were stained and looked dirty. Saying that the cottage although was very charming and the surrounding/location was superb.
