What our customers say about their holidays

    • The S's - Verified booking

We stayed a Brynmaur over New Year.

The house its self is well located on a quiet road, but within easy walking distance of Carbis Bay beach and Porthminster beach, where our spaniel enjoyed his morning walk into St Ives. The owners have recently had a car port built, which is a really good addition. Plenty of space for our estate car. The gate at the back of the car port leads directly onto the terrace. The terrace has beautiful views across the bay. It is a lovely private patio and will be great for bbqs in the summer. The house when we arrived was spotless. The owners have decorated and furnished the house beautifully. The beds are very good quality (no lumpy mattresses!) and very comfy with crisp white bedding. Plenty of wardrobe space in the main bedroom, and a beautiful view across the bay. The second bedroom is either twins or king-size bed. The kitchen is well equipped, and has a full size fridge freezer. Plenty of crockery, cooking utensils etc. The dinning area is large, and very light and airy. The lounge has a the same lovely view over the bay, and it is really very easy just to sit and enjoy the view. The owners have thought of everything, and obviously put in a lot of time in effort to ensure their guests enjoy their stay. We very much enjoyed our New year's stay at Brynmaur and would definitely recommend.

We forgot to write our impressions in the guests book and apologise for that.

We had a great 10 days in Brynmaur, a lovely little cottage, extremely well located, very comfortable and with a great view - having the morning coffee in bed looking at the sea: what a luxury. We are also grateful to the owners to have agreed to accept our 3 dogs - I vacuumed daily, so I hope we did not leave too many dogs' hair behind. We strongly recommend the quiches and bread (particularly the focaccia) of Yvette, just round the corner; the amazing restaurant 1st Fish Street (that has moved out of Fish Street), book at the bar so that you can chat with the chef; Porthminster with a great view on the haven. As for shopping...gosh! We gladly contributed to the economy of St Ives, Truro, Penzance... Finally, it was truly great and relaxing to be in a country where dogs are accepted everywhere. Living in Belgium, easily one of the least dog-friendly country in continental Europe, that was a welcomed change that we appreciate every time we cross the Channel. So thank you all, including the staff of Sykes Holiday Cottages, for a wondeful and relaxing 10 days - even the weather did its best. We do hope to come back soon.

If I could I would have give more then 5* this is amazing cottage with full of luxurious touches in every detail of the decorations.

Very comfortable beds . The interior of the cottage have high end everything including decor furniture everything . TV’s in every room very good high speed internet. Very spacious also have balcony as well. From outside you can believe this is same property. Big pay and park car park right next to the property I think owner should mention this it’s would make easier for people . Also they have free park which is far we couldn’t find parking and the keys so didn’t really bother about this as we prefer park closer so we did pay and park . But I would like to say big thank you to property owner it was nice and so clean end of our stay we bought our own cleaning products and left as it’s found . Definitely recommend you guys highly this cottage. Also Sarah left us nice cotton shopper with st Ives pictures on it bag to take home . Only thing I would advice don’t book through Sykes as they let you down last minute but book through other booking providers. Thank you Sarah

Had a fantastic time staying at Brynmaur with my partner and 8 month pup.

Really airy, spacious room with comfy furniture and everything you could need. Beautiful views over the bay from the terrace and the main bedroom and easy walking distance to St Ives, Carbis Bay beach and Porthkidney (the latter of which is great for dogs all year round!). There's not a huge amount of amenities in the Carbis Bay area but everything you need is still within walking distance, such as Tesco and Costcutter. We also caught buses and trains to nearby areas as the public transport routes are good. We travelled by car to Porthcurno beach and the Minack Theatre which we highly recommend for the spectacular views. We loved our stay and would love to visit again. (Just a very minor point that when we arrived there were damp bath and hand towels in the washing machine that we needed to empty and air out to dry. I imagine this was the previous customer so have not marked now as it was a very minor inconvenience.)
